Bush 39% Approval in Virginia

According to the latest SurveyUSA 50-state poll, President Bush is now at 33% nationwide approval, and just a bit better (39%) here in Virginia. So why is Thelma Drake having Bush hold a fundraiser for her this week? Three answers. 1) Money. 2) Money. 3) Money. Why else would any Virginia politician want to be tied to the imploding Presidency of George W. Bush? On the other hand, look how well it worked out for Jerry Kilgore last year. Ha.

Bush was CRAZY...screaming GET OUT THE VOTE like a drunken maniac. Ah, good riddance. The man is bad luck, and almost a lame duck.

When Bush showed up for Kilgore he was visibly drunk. From your description he seems like he is hitting the bottle again. Maybe he has a favorite bar in Virginia where he stops on the way to his appearances. At any rate, I agree that he is bad luck.

... there are still plenty of Kool-Aid drinking Republicans in the Tidewater area who still think W's shit smells sweet. Just watch -- plenty of them will turn out and empty their deep pockets.

at 5k a person, I'd take my chances, especially this early on. I think that's probably what their hedging their bets on and Lowell is right, it is money, money, money. 100-200k can buy a lot.
