Arlington Neighborhood Day Parade

Along with about 25 fellow Jim Webb supporters, I had the pleasure of marching in today's Arlington Neighborhood Day parade.  A few highlights, in no particular order:

*Taunting the far outnumbered George Allen supporters with the "hey hey goodbye" song all sports fans know and love! (hopefully, I'll have video of this in the next day or so)

*Being by far the loudest, biggest, and baddest  group for any U.S. Senate contender this year.

*Hanging out with a great bunch of Democrats...few Republicans to be found here in proudly progressive Arlington.

*Heading to Kaine advisor Larry Roberts' home for the after-parade party.  Lots of great Dems there, including Rep. Jim Moran, Del. Al Eisenberg, Arlington County Democratic Committee chairman Peter Rousselot, Arlington Young Democrats President Gabe Snow, and many others.  Thanks to Larry Roberts for hosting a great party!

I am surprised (Ingrid - 5/13/2006 8:56:37 PM)
that I still have a voice.  Megafun with the megaphone!

You are a natural on the megaphone! (Lowell - 5/13/2006 9:07:19 PM)
Do you play that in your band? :)

What! (James Martin - 5/13/2006 10:50:13 PM)
I missed the Party! But thats ok... I had to get home to bake 3 cakes for tommorow.

Lots of great cakes at Larry Roberts' house... (Lowell - 5/13/2006 10:53:26 PM)

Fighting Pictures? (Greg Bouchillon - 5/13/2006 10:54:39 PM)
I heard there were pictures of fighting between Webb and Allen supporters. Is this true?

Sounds like so much fun!! (summercat - 5/14/2006 6:38:05 PM)

Webb vs Allen (kevinceckowski - 5/23/2006 9:52:10 AM)
I felt that we had a very strong and spirited group present. We also had a super reception for Jim at my home and over and over again the theme is clear. Jim is striking a cord that is ringing true. I think Allen may be a bit worried. The Allen folks at the parade were just ugly and almost all males.  I did see a couple females, but mostly it was the macho male and not much to say except get off the street.  Well, we held our ground and had fun from a grassroots perspective.  We had kids, dads and moms, college students and the like.  What fun. Thanks to everyone for coming out. There was one woman on the sidelines who yelled at us "Democtrats" as traitors and I believe she told us to take a hike too.  What anger! Maybe we are making a difference and we owe most of it to Webb being drafted and all of us volunteers working very hard to have him and our state succeed. kc

When I hear stuff like that (phriendlyjaime - 5/23/2006 10:02:16 AM)
I usually cup my ear, and respond, "What?  Oh, I'm sorry, I can't hear ignorance!"

I wish I could have come to your party, Kevin!  Maybe another time...
