Allen's Republican Support Cooling Off

The National Journal today reports that George Allen is no longer the inside favorite for the Republican nomination in 2008 for President of the United States.

Last year, Allen was the leader, now John McCain holds a 3-to-1 edge over Allen in the National Journal's annual poll.  They clock in at 61% and 19% respectively.

A sample comment on Allen: "He has cooled off in recent months, but the potential is still there. A tougher-than-expected Senate race may keep him occupied and drain off his cash, delaying and perhaps destroying his chance to become the conservative alternative to McCain."

When Jim Webb defeats George Allen he will have ended a massive threat to the future of America: a George Allen presidency, or 4 more years of precisely the same incompetence we've seen under Bush.
