Jim Webb's Operation Take Back Virginia tour begins this week, and with it a new opportunity for Jim Webb to express his vision for the future of Virgina and America.

Jim Webb is the greatness that was America before backward thinking, backward looking reactionaries took over the Republican party and the United States of America.  He has based his life on service, fairness, courage, and excellence.  Now he has the opportunity to give voice to a new vision of a greater American future.

This week Jim Webb will begin to become a household name in Virgina, embodying the best traditions of our Democratic heritage and the brightest hope of our American future.

Don't stop calling friends.  Don't stop letting people know.  Don't stop spreading the word about the events this week.  Every day is a new opportunity to introduce your friends and neighbors to the man who will help Democrats Take Back Virginia.  This man was Born Fighting, and this week he will begin to share a vision of an American future worth fighting for.

But what is it...? (Arlington Mike - 4/24/2006 2:18:58 PM)
This will sound like a really stupid, common-sense question/comment, but “what is it?†

I love the idea of a “Take Back Virginia†tour, but there’s nothing on the Web site or here that describes what the events will include.  Will the events feel like a rally?  Who all will be speaking?  Is the goal to get people signing petitions to get Webb on the ballot, or to get Webb’s base of supporters excited and bring in some new ones, or something else?  When do the events really start (if the doors open at 330p, for example, can people come at 6p after work)?

Would just be curious to learn some more, it'll help to get more people out there to the events.

Basically, this is a chance for Jim Webb... (Lowell - 4/24/2006 2:31:22 PM)
to get all around Virginia, spreading his message of equality, hope and opportunity to all corners of the state.  The tour will hopefully serve multiple purposes, including getting people excited about this race, energizing supporters and winning over new ones, etc.  My guess is that there will be large crowds eager to hear Jim everywhere, unlike what has happened for a certain OTHER candidate. :)

By the way, there's no need to get people signing petitions, because Jim's amazing grassroots volunteers accomplished that goal in spades - over 14,200 signatures turned in April 14.

As far as the times of events, I believe they are starting as close to the time specified as possible. However, you never know if things will be running a bit behind schedule on a tour like this.  Anyway, come on out and see why so many of us are excited about Jim Webb for Senate!

Thanks (Arlington Mike - 4/24/2006 3:09:13 PM)
Thanks for the info.  Might be helpful to encourage the Webb team to include a bit more information on the program on their Web site, and to do more to publicize and "brand" the tour.  Something like this is the type of tour that I'd like to see gather some publicity throughout the state in local newspapers, and I think that you can use it to do the same thing on the Web site, like a press release or update in the news section announcing that Webb will "launch the 2006 'Take Back Virginia' tour with a statewide 10-stop journey to share his campaign with Virginians and lay out his plan for the state and the country."

As a note... (Arlington Mike - 4/24/2006 3:47:34 PM)
... didn't mean for that to sound critical, I'm very into what Webb is doing and his ability to bring Virginia into the blue, and am excited to get involved.

Earned Media (ajacied - 4/24/2006 7:41:55 PM)
Tours such as these are designed for two things: to garner "earned media" i.e. on TV and Radio and in the newspapers without running TV ads as well as to get supporters excited for the upcoming outreach ahead of the primary.

Yep (Arlington Mike - 4/24/2006 10:15:24 PM)
That's where I'm comin' from, exactly what I'm talking about.  Here's hoping the Webb team uses this to get great local coverage, not just in the bigger papers but also in the smaller pubs that people turn to for their local news.

(Can you tell I work in public relations?)
