Ben's Poll: #1 Issue for NOVA Dems

Ben Tribbett's poll continues to provide fascinating clues about the Northern Virginia Democratic electorate, heading into the show-down between the "Placeholder" and the "Maverick."

The latest?  The #1 issue that will "determine your vote in the US Senate in June" is "ability to beat George Allen" (45%), followed by "Iraq and National Security" (39%).  Nothing else is close, with education at 9%, transportation at 5%, and "previous party involvement" at 2%

If this poll is a true read on the Northern Virginia Democratic electorate, then frankly, Harris Miller's Senate campaign is toast.  Let's face it, Miller's main argument is that he has had a great deal of "previous party involvement," about which only 2% of Democrat apparently care a rat's hindquarters.  And Miller's other big issue, education, ranks 30 points behind "national security," which obviously is Jim Webb's strong suit. On "ability to beat George Allen," that one's also a slam dunk for Jim "Born Fighting" Webb, who can play in parts of Virginia where Harris "Born in Appalachia - NOT!" Miller simply can't.

No wonder Jim Webb has a 3:1 overall lead in Ben's poll. Onwards to victory on June 13, then it will be time - to paraphrase Bored George himself - to  shove George Allen's soft teeth down HIS whiny throat! Ha.

does anyone (Adam Malle - 4/21/2006 8:07:58 AM)
know what George Allen is planning be his main running issues? can't imagine he is strong on anything..well he could run as a corporate butt Monkey

I hear that Corporate Butt Monkeys... (Lowell - 4/21/2006 8:11:36 AM)
are polling very high this year.  As are friends of slimly lobbyists (no, not Harris Miller, Jack Abramoff of course!) :)

Oh and (Adam Malle - 4/21/2006 8:15:39 AM)
Great job on the poll Ben

Allen (phriendlyjaime - 4/21/2006 8:46:28 AM)
is running on "2 more years!  Lots of time for me to not give a shit, bc hey!  I'll be working the rest of the country!"

That is such a big deal, why can't these people get it?  The party of "safety and security" doesn't seem to care that a man elected senator (in Allen's wildest dreasms, of course) should actually be present in the state he is elected to instead of playing "I want to be President!!!"

Corporate Butt Monkey (DanG - 4/21/2006 9:39:16 AM)
I love it.  Do you mind if I use that one, Adam?

Be my guest (Adam Malle - 4/21/2006 10:06:16 AM)

Iraq + National Security (Alicia - 4/21/2006 9:51:31 AM)
I can't think of many people in Congress who could match Webb on these issues, let alone Miller or Allen.  Hasn't Miller already flip flopped on Iraq?  I wouldn't trust him with National Security, even if he tried to pay me to!

"Previous party involvement" means... (Bubby - 4/21/2006 1:34:20 PM)
You care more about the Party than your own ego.  You look around, you see a candidate with better bona fides, broad appeal, and you step down. You support the Party.

You hand the flag to Candidate Webb, salute and fall in.  You drive on with the leader because that is what it will take for the Party to prevail.  You give him your all. And you will be that success.  You will lend your fundraising skills and serve. Make yourself part of the solution.

Listen Mr. Miller, if you continue to muddy up the race, split the Dems, fritter precious funds, and bring us more George Allen, your political career will end in the Democratic Party. You will be radioactive. We're full up on too-proud politicians. Show some character. Get in line.

Can I get an AMEN!!! (Loudoun County Dem - 4/21/2006 3:03:54 PM)
