Ben Tribbett Conducts a Poll: Webb Ahead 3:1 in NOVA

Has there ever been a state political blog that ran a serious, legitimate, statistically significant poll in a Federal election  - or any election, for that matter?  Well, we may have one now, and it shows Jim Webb ahead by a 3:1 margin in Northern Virginia among "definite voters."  It also shows 57% undecided, a nearly 5:1 Webb lead among men, and a 2:1 Webb lead among women.  Wow.  And congratulations to Ben; assuming the internals hold up here, he has ratcheted the Virginia blogosphere up a significant notch in terms of seriousness.  I am very impressed.

Miller's weaker in NoVA than he thinks (Craig - 4/20/2006 3:24:58 PM)
Tribbett and I might lock horns on occasion, but on this matter I think he's got it about right.  Webb's win in the straw poll up here wasn't just a fluke; he really does have more support up here than Miller.

This is why I predict a Webb primary win.  If Miller can;t get NoVA, what chance does he really have?

because of a formatting problem, not the content of the comment.  Please feel free to re-post it, but without a really long word like you had.  Weird, and I'm looking into what's going on technically here...

ha! No problem! (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 3:44:29 PM)
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!  waas the gyst, from the dirty hippie, of course.  ;)

Thanks, you hippie you! (Lowell - 4/20/2006 3:45:56 PM)

The momentum is building (Kip - 4/20/2006 3:51:19 PM)
The Webb campaign must keep up the pressure and visibility. Miller's money will speak loudly, but if Webb continues to run his campaign well, I think he will easily win. Perhaps, by the margin Tribbet's poll suggests.

I wouldn't say easily. Miller has came this far and he won't lose with out a good fight.

No not easy, but . . . (Kip - 4/20/2006 4:19:56 PM)
if the Webb campaign works hard without any major mistakes, Webb will win by a significant margin.

Does this mean (Arturo - 4/20/2006 5:20:14 PM)
that Miller is a wimp?  Not a man's man and not a woman's man?  I guess so.

Don't Underestimate Miller (Teddy - 4/20/2006 5:36:48 PM)
I've received an invitation to a $1000 invitation to a fund raiser for Miller by Bill Thomas' law firm, a heavy hitter in Virgnia politics. (Yes, there's also a $250 category, too, but you get the idea). The invitations obviously were sent to a lo-o-ong list. The IT bosses and other business interests in NoVa are rallying behind Miller. And then there's the possible error in judgment about the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce upcoming dinner, see another post below. And remember that other poll which showed Allen ahead of Miller, who got thirty percent while Webb had slipped to twenty-seven or so.

In other words, Miller is out there, and he's not idle. You have to admit his "Where's George" ads are pretty good. He knows how to campaign and is politically oriented, and he has good political instincts, even if we don't much like his manner or his views on outsourcing.

Webb has got to get out and meet as many people face to face as possible, and speak as often as possible--- and everywhere in the State, as the more people who actually know him, the more they like him.  He's the quintessential Outsider in this year (despite his Sec. Navy past). So, where can he have the most contacts, the highest impact? And Quick, man, Quick!

PS - His web site absolutely must have a good Spanish section. A little Vietnamese wouldn't hurt, either.

Webb's website (JennyE - 4/20/2006 5:59:06 PM)
I've also wondered why they don't have a Spanish section as well. Miller I've contacted them on this, and got no reply. Who's is their webmaster?

I also wish they could jazz up the website a bit-- it lacks vibrant colors, and looks too austere. They could use some nice graphics as well.

sorry (JennyE - 4/20/2006 6:01:30 PM)

Another Poll (uva08 - 4/20/2006 5:50:01 PM)
This is great news when combine another poll released today that shows George Allen's approval rating under 50%.  His approval numbers are 49% approve 38 disapprove.  I think Webb has a real shot here.

Attention Simpsons Nerds (Laura86 - 4/20/2006 8:23:33 PM)
Is it just me or is Miller EXACTLY like Artie Ziff from The Simpsons?  I don't mean this as an attack on him, I thought this before I even knew who James Webb was.

Artie!!! (DukieDem - 4/20/2006 8:51:05 PM)
The likeness is perfect! Now who can be the first to find an Artie Ziff image and contrast it with Miller?
