Well, let me first say hello and thanks to all of the wonderful people I met, recognized, and knew already yesterday at shad planking.  It was awesome, super fun, and really motivating.  In light of all of the negativity coming from the Miller supporters, I wanted to get the Webb Heads back on track with the REAL candidate we are trying to beat:  George Allen.
Imagine my surprise when I was scouring the internet(s) :) today for info on the event, and I came upon this wonderful little tidbit!  Apparently, there was a good reason for all of the blue shirts and college republicans yesterday:  Allen and his staff provided FREE TIX and a FREE BUS RIDE for people interested in going and supporting him!!!

Che?  Qua?  Huh?  WHAT?  George Allen-say it aint so!!!!  But I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU!!!!!  ;)

Across the aisle, Sen. George Allen (R-Virginia) raised $1.7 million in the first quarter and now has $7.2 million in the bank, according to The Washington Post. Allen, who raised only $28,000 in his leadership PAC so far this year, is seeking re-election and will face either former Navy Secretary James Webb (D) or telecommunications lobbyist Harris Miller (D) in November. In an e-mail sent yesterday, Allen is offering supporters a free bus ride and a ticket to attend "Shad Planking 2006" -- Virginia's annual non-partisan political fish picnic. And for those Northern Virginia supporters who decide to ride one of the two buses to tomorrow's event in Wakefield, they will get the added bonus of receiving a George Allen t-shirt or hat to wear. Another likely 2008 presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), raised a paltry $14,000 in his Senate account and currently has $1.1 million in the bank. McCain does not face Arizona voters again until 2010. And Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) raised $39,600 in the first quarter and has $144,000 cash-on-hand.

WOW!!!  Must be nice to save $20, save gas $$, and get as hammered as you want bc a trusty bus driver will drive you back to a parking lot somewhere after a nice nap in an air-conditioned bus.

I know, SOOOOOO hard to believe that a rich Republican that votes with George Bush 96% of the time actually has the $$ and resources to pay people to like him...

Meanwhile, in the real world...my Democratic voice is hoarse, my democratic back is burned, my democratic hand is cut, and my democratic feet are tired.  I have less $$ and gas than I did yesterday, and I am now super behind in my last few weeks of homework.  BUT, I am motivated, ready to work, ecstatic, and refreshed from the day I spent with the best candidate for VA, and perhaps the country.  I work for Jim Webb, folks:  free of charge.  And I could not be happier.

My name is Phriendlyjaime, and I approve this message.

I gave you a 4 (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 1:45:10 PM)

An email from reader Republican Girl:

From Wakefield - not a Harris Miller sign to be found. Bunch of hippies just showed up for Jim Webb.

Heh.

and...

It’s true, Allen was mobbed for handshakes, pictures and autographs as soon as he arrived. The only time I saw Webb was leading what looked like a conga line of freaks and geeks through the crowd. They were largely ignored.

Well, that was nice.  Let me get something off of my chest.  If any one of those dockers wearing, daddy's money spending crybabies tried to ask me on a date, EVER, I would throw up in my mouth.  So, put that in your conservative pipe and smoke it.  I mean, really, a "bunch of hippies?"  I may not have been wearing a bra, but I highly doubt ANYONE would call the Webb crowd a "bunch of hippies."  But, then again, if "Republican Girl" and "Old Zach" are the 2 Allen staffers from the parking lot that I am thinking of...well, I would be jealous of the collective good looks of Webb Heads too.

And by the way... (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 2:14:39 PM)
even the reporters from the event called it a "yuppiefest" which is certainly not a grateful dead show or anything like one.  Duh.

Hell sounds like fun day (Josh - 4/20/2006 2:21:23 PM)

If that's Allen's "Support", he'd better be scared.

Agreed. (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 2:24:45 PM)
Drunks that don't want to pay for something or drive to get there:  now, THAT is a hippy.

What's worse than George Allen? (Josh - 4/20/2006 2:25:53 PM)
A big steaming pile of "Santorum". Oh, actually, it turns out Santorum is worse.

Gross. (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 2:33:47 PM)
BTW--his cowboy boots are NOTHING compared to Jim's son's combat boots.

Good times (Corey - 4/20/2006 3:10:24 PM)
Good times at the event.  Nice to have met you and everyone else.

You too! (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 3:12:15 PM)
Great meeting you!

Jamie if I weren't a homo (Greg Bouchillon - 4/20/2006 4:10:35 PM)
I'd take you out. You're a badass. I love ya! Send the docker wearing republican boys to me, If I recruit six more, I get the trip to San Francisco pride.

And if you liked (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 4:15:04 PM)
girls, I would go!  :)

As for the college repubs, I have asked them why they don't join up.  I guess they are "busy."

OK (phriendlyjaime - 4/20/2006 5:12:47 PM)
Greg :) my new boyfriend, mentioned somewhere that he wants some background info on Allen's first wife.  Well, from what I can find, her full name is Anne Patrice Rubel and she resides in La Jolla California.  I don't know if I can get any dirt, but I would love to.  According to Greg, someone told him to "look up his first wife."  Hmmmmmmmmmmm...scandalous!

So, does anyone have any ties to finding this stuff out?  I know there are quite a few californians over on Daily Kos, so if anyone is friends with one that might have the resources, let me know!  And the rest of us!  :)

Allen's missteps (Josh - 4/24/2006 1:33:44 AM)
Allen's public missteps include calling the Civil War "a four-year struggle for independence and sovereign rights" in 1997, and in 2005 appearing at Rev. Pat Robertson's Regent University shortly after Robertson said that an "out-of-control judiciary" is more of a threat than Nazi Germany or Al Qaeda.
