Deadline day review

CQ Politics has a comprehensive review of the incumbents and challengers (as of now) for Virginia in 2006.  Obviously, Allen, Webb and Miller have filed for the Senate race. CQ calls the race for the 2nd District the most competitive, where "freshman Republican Rep. Thelma Drake will be opposed in November by Phil Kellam, the elected commissioner of the revenue in Virginia Beach."

I'll also highlight this paragraph for our Democratic readers:

Democrats have no challengers as of yet to Republican incumbents J. Randy Forbes in the 4th District, Robert W. Goodlatte in the 6th and Eric Cantor in the 7th. But the non-incumbent parties will be holding district conventions in May and June and can designate nominees then.

So, while the filing deadline has passed, the window has not shut completely for the Democratic party in the 4th, 6th, and 7th.

Comments

Brad Blanton and Martin Dudziak (Lowell - 4/16/2006 1:32:09 PM)
are competing for the Democratic nomination in the 7th.

I thought Blanton was running as an independent? (Rob - 4/16/2006 4:38:46 PM)
As for Martin - I had a feeling CQ was missing someone.
