Cross-over Republican votes for Miller?

I know this is a murky scenario. But could the GOP coordinate a voter push for Miller in hopes that Allen faces Miller instead of Webb? Howling Latina raised this on her blog, and it got me thinking that it might be plausible.

I'm hoping Webb defeats Miller resoundly and leaves no question in the minds of voters of his strength. We need all the buzz we can get against Allen's monstrous money advantage.

Very possible (DanG - 4/14/2006 10:20:45 PM)
But I still think only the most extreme of Republicans would actually get out and vote for Miller.  I'm still of the belief that a lot of Republicans, especially military vets, may actually come out to vote for Webb.

I think that Republicans trying to sabotage Webb will be countered by many Republicans who actually support him.

needs to get out now. Can't the party bosses talk to this man?

I think you're right, Miller needs to get out (Lowell - 4/15/2006 11:05:10 AM)
Do you realize that, after the Democratic primary, whoever wins will have just 145 days to raise perhaps $15 million in order to compete with George Allen?  Quick calculation: that's  $103,000 per day, EVERY SINGLE DAY, for 145 days.  In comparison, the two Democrats COMBINED raised just $800,000 in the 100 days of the first quarter 2006.  Quick calculation: that's just $8,000 per day, or 8 percent of the $103,000 per day needed to match George Allen.  D'oh!

In other words, we've got to start hauling ass at this point.  We don't have 2 more months to waste!  It's time to turn our attention to George Allen, but we can only do that if the candidate with no chance backs out.  C'mon, Gov. Warner.  C'mon Don Beyer.  Talk to your friend Harris Miller.  Tell him to do the right thing for the Democratic Party. Quit now, and start lining up $$$ and support for Webb! Thanks.
