There's a very interesting post about Harris Miller's petition signatures at something called "The Southwest Distress."  According to this post, entitled "Miller Lite in Southwest Virgnia:"

...to put it bluntly, Harris Miller's early work in Southwest Virginia seems to have veered sharply south. As of this morning, they had no signatures collected from the 9th Congressional District.  After a mad scramble by his hired guns, Fieldworks, they had collected a whopping 372 signatures by six this evening. Mad scramble, of course, meaning two guys with clipboards outside the Blacksburg post office for eight hours

Amazing, huh?  For more, read the whole post here  And this cost you HOW much money, Harris?  Uh, hello, we did it for FREE with grassroots volunteers.  Ha!

I worked down here in Blacksburg (DanG - 4/12/2006 12:03:16 AM)
This weekend.  With our work, plus the work of many other dedicated workers in the ninth, we were able to collect over 400 signatures by Sunday.  And unlike Harris Miller supporters, we didn't ask for pay.  We volunteered.  Harris has to pay for his signatures.  Webb got them for free.

Webb will pay... (Josh - 4/12/2006 12:10:09 AM)
Webb will pay with years of hard, informed, diligent service transforming the US Senate back from the shadow it has become.

Not exactly free... (Duke - 4/12/2006 8:20:58 AM)
Uh, hello, we did it for FREE with grassroots volunteers.

I don't think that's quite true. I believe that paid Webb staff has been collecting petition signatures in Charlottesville.

Finally got the dope on Miller (Rebecca - 4/12/2006 9:54:53 AM)
