There was a successful event for Jim Webb last night at the Lucky Three Restaurant in Falls Church among members of the Northern Virginia Vietnamese community.  Chap Peterson was there and gave a brief speech in support of Webb, and in addition to numerous petition signatures, the Webb folks reportedly succeeded in getting people in the Vietnamese community interested in the Democratic primary. The event is going to be shown on the local Vietnamese language cable channel sometime next week.

This is very good news for Jim Webb, coming after the Vietnamese Veterans Coalition enthusiastically endorsed him this past Thursday. The Vietnamese Veterans Coalition represents veterans of the former Republic of Vietnam. According to U.S. Census Bureau estimtes from 2000, the Virginia Vietnamese community numbers around 37,000 people.

The Vietnamese community is organized, articulate and vital.  It is a great honor to have them support Jim Webb so strongly.

I agree. In a low turnout primary... (Lowell - 4/9/2006 9:41:32 AM)
the support of the well-organized Vietnamese community could prove decisive for Jim Webb.
