Virgil Goode loves his pork

An article from UPI, via M&C, uses Virgil Goode as its prime post-Duke Cunningham example for Department of Defense pork barrel projects:

Nor do past embarrassments seem to have slowed the process. Last year, a classified project associated with the Duke Cunningham scandal received a $3 million earmark. This year, the same activity saw its funding tripled to $9 million. Found and identified by Taxpayers for Common Sense under the heading 'Classified Programs - C3I,' a project labeled 'Foreign Supply Assessment Center' is 'earmarked' to receive the money in the R&D/Navy Title of the 2006 DOD Appropriations Act. TCS further reports that Rep. Virgil Goode, R-Va., was the prime mover of this 'add-on.'

Poor judgment, cavorting with convicted felons, and a love for government waste ... I'm sure the people of his district are proud!

Some alternatives: Bern Ewert and Al Weed

Bahh... (doctormatt06 - 4/6/2006 12:58:36 PM)
I hope somehow the sleaze of the Cunningham scandal gets its tentacles on Goode and takes him down with it...

Now I KNOW he will be defeated.... (uva08 - 4/6/2006 5:12:45 PM)
by a 50% margin in Charlottesville, hell, he probably will lose Albemarle by a couple points... This is a long shot by far but not impossible.  I hope the Dems select Ewart (sp?) over Weed.  I like Weed but because he comes from the Charlottesville area he might be seen as too liberal downstate.  Another factor is money.  Goode will have tons of money (from MZM?) to use on the campaign compared to either challenger.
