Two More Reasons Why We Should Get Off of Middle East Oil

There are lots of reasons the United States should reduce its "addiction" to oil consumption and imports.  Global warming, dependence on unstable regimes, terrorism...these are just a few.  Here are two more:

1) Iran Calls Second Missile Test a Success: "Iran announced its second major missile test in a week, saying Sunday it has successfully fired a high-speed underwater missile capable of destroying huge warships and submarines."

2) Saudi Arabia working on secret nuclear program with Pakistan help - report : Saudi Arabia is working secretly on a nuclear program, with help from Pakistani experts, the German magazine Cicero reported in its latest edition, citing Western security sources."

Think about those two stories the next time you're filling up your car, SUV, Hummer, etc.  Do we really want to be indefinitely dependent on the Middle East for our oil supplies?  Right, I didn't think so.  And is George W. Bush doing anything about it, besides saying we're "addicted" to oil?  Right, I didn't think so.

Oh, by the way, if you want to get a feel for the connections between oil, terrorism, corruption, and right-wing politics, I strongly recommend you rent the mindboggling and deeply disturbing movie Syriana.
