This is the start of what will be an ongoing series, looking at George "California Cowboy" Allen's pitiful record as a U.S. Senator.  Today, the theme is the environment.  Check out a few of these votes.

*Voted to open the Artic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.  See here and here.

*Voted to open up our coasts to oil and gas drilling.  See here.

*Voted against increasing generation of renewable power - wind, solar, geothermal - in this country.  See here.

*Voted to let Clean Air Act violators off the hook, by providing exemptions for polluters.  See here.

Overall, Senator Allen received a ZERO rating from the American Wilderness Coalition in 2005, a ZERO from the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, and a pitiful 5% positive rating from the League of Conservation Voters.  In 2003-2004, Allen received a ZERO from the American Lands Alliance, a ZERO from the National Parks Conservation Association, and a ZERO from the American Wilderness Coalition.

In other words, George Allen is a big, fat ZERO on the environment.  Of course, if you like George W. Bush's environmental policies (the Orwellian "Clear Skies" and "Healthy Forests" initiatives, which actually are the exact opposite of what they say they are), then George Allen is DEFINITELY your man.  If not, then it's time for a change if you care about the environment.

To be continued...
