NOVA Democrat:

You made the point that all the last 20 Governors have come from LT Governor, AG, or Congress. That's you're reason why it can't be a Moran or a Webb.

CREIGH DEEDS isn't Lt. Governor, AG or Congress either. He is in the same boat as Moran, Webb, Warner (in 2001), Holton, etc. At least Webb is running in 2006. Moran Chairs the House Dems.

Watch the July 15 campaign finance filling. Anyone who’s thinking about it might begin to make $ moves. It’s all about who can raise the money to compete with McDonnell (or Bolling) — need upwards of 20 or maybe 30 million.

In the next redistricting Southern and Western Virginia are going to lose more seats. The votes aren’t their any more. NOVA is exploding. As are the exurbs of Loudon and PWC. The fight in 2009 may be about the next ring out - Faquier, Caroline, etc. Fastest growing.

Deeds couldn’t be McDonnell when TMK was at the top of the ticket getting 56% of the vote. What makes you think he can win at the top by himself.

Moran could get TMK numbers in NOVA. Someone like Webb might be able too also - get out some Federal Dems too. Plus Moran and Webb could raise more than Deeds.

I’m not saying it’s not Creigh… just that’s it’s not a sure thing

Kaine got 56% of the vote? I could have sworn that he got 51.7%, which while nice isn’t 56%.

Miller will loose the primary so no problem and I doubt webb is interested. Brian Moran would be a nice statewide candidate, but with the exception of Warner and Holton, all of the last 20 governors have come from Congress, Lt. Gov, or Attorney General.

I would love to see Delegate Moran run for AG.

As for S. Deeds, I just think the likely outcome in 2009 will be his nomination.

Why are we so sure t (Forward Virginia - 4/4/2006 11:34:09 PM)
Why are we so sure that Creigh will get the nomination for Governor. He lost to McDonnell once already, and that's with Kaine carying 56% at top of ticket.

Harris Miller or Jim Webb will have the same name ID as Creigh after this election is over (if they loose to Allen).

Brian Moran is the only statewide Democrat with ambition to run (he chairs the House Democrats). Moran sits on the vote base and the money based in Northern Virginia.

let's not count this as done yet.

Jody Wagner? Now th (OnBackground - 4/4/2006 11:34:09 PM)
Jody Wagner?  Now that's a thought.  A nice break from the boring white guys.  I think Mims is sitting there as chief deputy thinking of going for the job -- Wagner vs. Mims would be interesting.  Mims vs. those other guys, a blowout for Bill.

Creigh is the man!! (the Gools - 4/4/2006 11:34:09 PM)
Creigh is the man!!

(In a perfect world he would have 361 more votes the last time around.)

Creigh will get our nomination for Governor in 2009, Al.  Make no mistake about it.  I'd be willing to put money on it.

I voted Chap because I liek him, but in truth I know little about the others.

Senator John Edwards??  Does he live in Virginia now?

You really should have listed Creigh since at this point in time I just would not assume he's going to go for Governor.
