As some of you may know, I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (class of 1984).  While there, I very much enjoyed watching Penn and Philadelphia "Big 5" basketball games at the legendary Palestra.  Since graduation, I have continued to follow and root for the Penn Quakers.  Well, this year Penn is #1 - as of last night's victory over Yale, they are the first team to qualify for the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.  For the record, Penn is 19-7 overall, 11-1 in the Ivy League.  Now, let's see what kind of seed they get, what bracket they're in, and whether or not they can win a game or two this year.

Meanwhile, George Washington University - where I received my Master's Degree - continues to kick butt as well, ranking #6 in the country in men's basketball.  Unfortunately, they will be forced to play the rest of the season, the Atlantic-10 tournament, and possibly into the NCAA tournament, without their leader and "big man," Pops Mensah-Bonsu.  That's unfortunate, but I still expect G.W. to  do well.

Go Penn!  Go GW!
