Arlington: State of the CountyArlington County Board Chair Walter Tejada delivered his 2008 State of the County address tonight. While the tone of the talk was positive overall, Tejada began by acknowledging the economic crisis facing the country, the commonwealth, and the county. He also ripped into Richmond for missing a chance earlier this year to address Northern Virginia's transportation crisis.

But Tejada spent most of the State of the County counting the year's successes, from the preservation of affordable housing units in Buckingham to the award-winning FitArlington program to the continued expansion of Fresh AIRE. He wrapped up with a year-in-review video from the Arlington Video Network.

The County Board concluded by presenting awards to retiring commission chairs - Melissa Bondi and Michelle Winters (Housing), Patrick Hope (Community Services), Nancy Hunt (Planning), Peter Owen (Transportation), Carlos Soles (Multicultural Advisory) and Casey Tiggs (Fiscal Affairs).
