Special Elections Reminder

Lest we forget, elections in Virginia never end. We have them every November; the cities and counties have them in May; there are primaries in June (and February in preisdential years); and in between, we have special elections.

There are three that I know of scheduled in the next few months:

Fredericksburg Commonwealth's Attorney, December 16 - Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney La Bravia Jenkins faces two opponents as she tries to succeed her former boss, Charles Sharp.

81st House District, January 6 - 24 year old activist John LaCombe today became the Democratic nominee to replace mortgage loan officer-turned-mortgage industry lobbyist Terrie Suit. He faces a tough climb against Republican hog farmer Barry Knight and independent real estate agent Jeff Dente.

Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney, March 10 - the only announced candidate so far is Democratic Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Greg Underwood, but we can't take anything for granted.

70th district soon (Johnny Longtorso - 12/5/2008 8:42:31 AM)
Dwight Jones was elected mayor of Richmond; he hasn't resigned yet, as far as I know, but he will (obviously, this isn't New Jersey) have to do so before taking office.

Firehouse primary TOMORROW, election Jan 6 (Vivian J. Paige - 12/5/2008 6:33:02 PM)

Fredericksburg for La Bravia (Shawn - 12/5/2008 1:07:39 PM)
Thanks for the reminder ... December 16th will indeed be another important election day in Fredericksburg with the position of Commonwealth's Attorney at stake ... I'm supporting La Bravia Jenkins the Acting Commonwealth's Attorney for the position ... super qualified, experienced and personable ... she deserves our votes!

Proud To Support LaBravia (Shawn - 12/5/2008 9:28:42 PM)
