nye35 The Virginian-Pilot reports that our new Second District Congressman, Glenn Nye, won decisively over Republican Thelma Drake.

Glenn Nye received 141,857 votes.  Thelma Drake received 128,486 votes, a difference of 13,371 votes.  Overall, Nye earned 52.4% of the vote, while Drake, a two-term Republican incumbent and former member of the General Assembly, garnered only 47.46%.

Equally impressive, Glenn Nye carried every locality in the Second Congressional  District, including Virginia Beach, parts of Norfolk and Hampton, and all of Accomack and Northampton counties.

In blue, blue, Virginia Beach, Nye won decisively, with 51.36% of the vote over Drake's 48.51%.

Many thanks to Glenn Nye and all the people who made this wonderful victory possible.  Next stop: 81st House of Delegates District.

in one's district.  He has clearly won a mandate.  Now lets hope he works to earn it and sustain it.

Welcome congressman-elect Nye.
