"We cannot have a thriving Wall Street without a thriving Main Street...in this country we rise and fall as one nation, as one people."

Secretary of Treasury: Timothy Geithner
Director, National Economic Council: Lawrence Summers
Chair, Council of Economic Advisers: Christina Romer
Director, Domestic Policy Council: Melody Barnes

These are excellent, well-qualified choices to deal with an "economic crisis of historic proportions" left to the Obama administration by Bush, Cheney et al.

Wall Street should bounce up (Teddy - 11/24/2008 2:55:53 PM)
once more on this news. I've a few reservations about Summers, but will trust Obama's judgment as always. It's the continued dominance of extreme Freidmanism's so-called free market theory that has to be reined in, and maybe the rest of the economics team will help on that. It would serve no useful purpose at this perilous moment to rock the boat by trotting out statements about "real reform" of the world's financial system, but that is, I hope, where we will eventually go.

I'm sure Melody Barmes will be a great success and dynamo. One simple reason-- I've never known anyone coming from Senator Ted's office that wasn't extremely capable. It's nice to see Barack using the best!
