Politico: Will Perriello be the "shocker of the night?"

We'll see what happens, but I've had a great feeling about Tom Perriello's chances since I first met him last winter.  Anyway, here is what The Politico has to say, in its late afternoon update, "Four early House bellwethers."

Virginia Fifth District (Republican Rep. Virgil Goode vs. Democrat Tom Perriello): Southside Virginia has been a conservative bastion in the Old Dominion. But Democrats have been pouring in money to help Perriello, and popular former Gov. Mark Warner cut a last-minute radio spot endorsing him. With African-American turnout high and with Warner's coattails, Perriello might be able to pull off the shocker of the night.

Personally, it won't be a "shocker" if Tom wins this race, but it certainly will be an upset. I'm thinking this is going to be close as can be, so although I'm not superstitious, I'm crossing my fingers and knocking on a bunch of wood right now! :)

This is a race to watch. (KathyinBlacksburg - 11/4/2008 6:31:26 PM)
He may well pull this off--especially with record turnout.

Simple. YES. (faithfull - 11/4/2008 6:44:39 PM)
I have been watching his field and GOTV operation and they are absolutely unbelievable. Truly a first rate candidate and team. I am putting together a piece about this campaign as we speak.

In terms of shocker ... (A Siegel - 11/4/2008 6:50:54 PM)
Stepping back, isn't it shocking that this is even a close race.

For me, one (of many reasons) to support Tom:  he is simply impressive in what he has achieved, across a wide spectrum, and the fundamental morality of his achievements.  Compared to not-so-good Goode, have to really wonder whether people are looking past D and R to compare the two people behind the "brand".

Fingers are crossed.
