Obama "Conversions" in NOVA and Texas

A close relative of mine - who lives in northern Virginia, has always voted Republican and is serving as an election official today in Loudoun County - sent me this message last night:
--------------------------------------------------
"Haven't talked to you in quite a while, but I wanted to make sure you realize why VA is 'leaning' toward Obama.  Remember what you said after the Democratic National Convention when I shared that I was on the fence?  Well, soon after the first debate, my wife and I pretty much decided it was indeed Time for a Change and will be voting for the Obama/Biden ticket. So, just wanted you to know why the state is (will) be going blue!  We're off to our precinct at 5 AM tomorrow as election officers, so it will be a long day.  We'll talk later on this week, hopefully for a victory discussion."
--------------------------------------------------
As my relative mentions above, in our conversation in late August, I told him that if HE voted for Obama, surely Virginia would go blue, so let's hope that prophecy comes true...

Next is a portion of a message that I received this morning from a friend in Austin, Texas:
--------------------------------------------------
"Well, this Republican voted Obama and I know several others who have.  George Bush has pretty much beaten all of the Republican out of me.
Honestly there was a time when, although I intended to vote for Obama, I didn't think it would be all that terrible if John McCain won.  His selection of Sarah Palin and the campaign of fear that they have waged has changed my mind on that."
--------------------------------------------------
Even though McCain will very likely carry Texas, I know that he didn't get my friend's vote nor those of several of her friends.

Now, let's finish this thing...

Thanks!

Steve
