Canvassing

Today I went out canvassing in Spotsylvania county.  I was paired up with high school girl who wasn't even old enough to vote, but was working for Obama's campaign.  To me that was unbelievable that a young person who has an opinion on the election would be giving her time to canvass the neighborhoods looking for Obama support.

We knocked on over 50 doors and spoke to about half of them.  The clear majority was for Obama.  We spoke to someone who weren't sure if they were registered to vote but were strong Obama supporters.  We also spoke to another who said he wasn't going to vote because he couldn't get to the polls.  We then arranged with another person there to get him a ride to the polls.  Hopefully these people will get to the polls.  We spoke to a few undecided and a few McCain supporters.  But my overall opinion was that there is lots of support for Obama here.

I was sort of shocked that some people weren't decided yet.  One McCain supporter had really bought the McCain propaganda, however I think she has made up her mind a long time before.

Other Obama supporters would come to the door and waste no time announcing their support.  Most people were unsure about who were running for the Senate and House, another thing that amazed me.  But when they were Obama they were straight Democratic ticket.

One more day, then it is election day.
