I have some great news for everyone in the progressive community; State Senator Creigh Deeds has agreed to answer questions submitted by Raising Kaine readers and other progressive bloggers. The actual interview will be conducted on Monday, February 20th, and his answers will be posted immediately after that. So either send your questions to JamesEMartin at GMail dot com or put them in the comments section.
Some topics of interest that could be addressed are:
1) Election Reform
2) Gay Marriage
3) Methamphetamines, Gangs, or Sex Offenders
4) Or Just about anything else that you want to know.

By the way, in my opinion Senator Deeds sponsored the best piece of legislation of this session; SJ 45 fixed a problem that has plagued American democracy since 1812. For those who aren?t all that big in US History, 1812 is the year that Governor Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts signed a redistricting bill that was meant to favor Democratic-Republicans who were running for the state legislature. That practice became known as ?Gerrymandering? and is now commonly used in most states to favor the party who has the majority in the state legislature in both federal and state elections. For Example, when Republicans took control of the Virginia Legislature the number of Democrats representing Virginia in Congress was 6, after they had ?gerrymandered? Virginia?s districts that number went to 3.

Anyway don?t forget to email your questions for Senator Deeds or leave them in the comments section. This promises to be very interesting.
Despite special elections where party money is pumped in against right wing extremists, Democrats seem to have failed in the General Elections of last fall. How can we once again be a statewide party?
I don't have a problem with a guy from Bath County voting the way he did. I expected it. What pisses me off is when a person does something like that and still acts like you've got their support. Thats just low.
Also, what did they DO with the money? Specifically, what does Creigh think of the voter suppression tactics used by the Republicans, such as phony robocalls from something called the "Honest Leadership for Virginia PAC?" Shouldn't there be criminal penalties for garbage like that?
