It looks like whatever "tightening" was taking place - if it indeed WAS taking place - has now "untightened."  According to the latest polls, Obama appears to be pulling away with under 60 hours until polls open Tuesday (and with as many as 27% of voters already having cast their ballots).  Here are the results from the CBS News poll, just released, followed by a few other polls.

CBS News
Obama 54%-McCain 41% (likely voters)
Obama 57%-McCain 38% (early voters)

Gallup
Obama 52%-McCain 42% (likely voters)

ABC/Washington Post
Obama 53%-McCain 44% (likely voters)
(in this poll, 24% say they've already voted, with 14% more saying they plan to vote early or absentee, for a total of 38% voting before election day)

Rasmussen
Obama 52%-McCain 46% (likely voters)

Research 2000
Obama 51%-McCain 44% (likely voters)

Report From Richmond, Virginia (norman swingvoter - 11/1/2008 8:10:18 PM)
Yesterday I carried food to the main Obama headquarters in downtown.  Today I carried food to the Henrico headquarters.  I am happy to report that both are bustling with activity.

Mason-Dixon Poll (chspkheel - 11/2/2008 10:37:37 AM)
Masson-Dixon has Obama at 47% and McCain at 44% with 9% undecided.  http://hamptonroads.com/2008/1...

With all the off-the-charts early voting turnout across the country, the one thing that I have been hearing is that very few young voters are turning out in the same numbers to early vote.  That is the only thing that is concerning me at this poing.

This ain't a term paper you are putting off until the last minute.  Get off your can and go vote!!!  If you don't and Tuesday comes and goes and Obama comes up short, don't winne about adults not taking you serious.  The youth vote is the key to Obama winning or loosing.  You have the power to win or lose this eletion.  VOTE!!!

Let Me Second That (norman swingvoter - 11/2/2008 12:47:40 PM)
I don't know if Obama can pull off a win without the young voters showing up and voting.  My top priority on election day is to get me and my young daughter to the polls.
