Brad Blanton remains the sole challenger to Eric "Abramoff Sandwich" Cantor in the heavily gerrymandered 7th Congressional District of Virginia.  He is opening up his campaign office on Thursday February 16, at 701-B, West Main Street, Stanley, VA 22851.  Although he is running as an independent, he is an interesting candidate worth writing about nonetheless.  In 2004, Blanton received only got 25% of the vote, but he is back again as the sole challenger to Cantor, who has a lot more dirt on him this time around than he did in 2004.

Blanton has had an interesting past for a Congressional candidate.  He's worked in the civil rights movement and has been a long-time psychotherapist who's advocated the use of "Radical Honesty."  Blanton founded a corporation called Radical Honesty Enterprises, Inc, which promotes "a kind of communication that is direct, complete, open and expressive...authentic sharing that creates the possibility of love and intimacy." Blanton's radical belief is that "the best way to reduce stress, make life work, and heal the past is to tell the truth."

While it would be nice to see a Democrat running in this district, it is interesting that a man committed to teaching people about the values of telling the truth in challenging Eric Cantor, a leader in the Republican Congress that is perhaps the most dishonest and corrupt in history.  Good luck Brad!
