Phony Flier Tells Dem's to Vote the Day AFTER the Election!

Unfortunately, we are going to have to be constantly vigilent about crap like this.

A phony State Board of Elections flier advising Republicans to vote on Nov. 4 and Democrats on Nov. 5 is being circulated in several Hampton Roads localities, according to state election officials.

In fact, Election Day for voters of all political stripes remains Nov. 4.

It's disgusting, obviously, and possibly illegal (the state police are looking into the matter). Anyway, the bottom line is this: stay diligent, and...

GET TO THE POLLS ON NOVEMBER 4!!!

This is such an outworn gambit (Teddy - 10/27/2008 5:27:38 PM)
but I suppose it might still work among low-information voters. The Republicans have trotted out this piece of prevarication in several places over the years, usually among minority voters. Is that the case here? I expect the Obama campaign has enough money and personnel to conteract the mis-information; if anything, the lie should swell the turnout for Obama as other disgusted votrs react to the lie. We are all fed up with being manipulated by Republicans who show such such contempt for the American voter. I hope and believe that even another last-minute message from Osama bin Laden will not be able to bamboozle voters this year---- there's been too much fraud, too many lies, too much corruption for us not to view any late-hour event as just more gaming of the system by the GOP.

Felonious Punks (hereinva - 10/27/2008 6:42:47 PM)
Since the "purps" chose to falsely represent a VA state Agency, that may be considered a Class 4 felony.

VA code here

And there is always "fraud" under VA election laws.

Desperate measures..for desperate people. Stay vigilant.

But here's the real message: (cycle12 - 10/27/2008 7:15:36 PM)
Republicans may as well conserve their current high-priced Bush gasoline and stay home on Election Day unless, of course, they just like getting whipped...

Thanks!

I'm sure (Great Blue - 10/27/2008 7:45:22 PM)
Bob McDonnell is right on top of this, just like the last time.

Yet again ... (A Siegel - 10/28/2008 12:02:53 AM)
I'd like to know whether the Bush DOJ has prosecuted a single person for these types of actions in either the 2000 or 2004 elections.

Every Election we use our TV and Radio shows the night before to expose these (Used2Bneutral - 10/28/2008 7:24:19 AM)
In fact, several of the local press has let us know that they have picked up on the one hour shows we dedicate to this. We carefully document "what" and "where" and take no sides as we expose the "dirty tricks" with all the details we have. No respectable MSM gives us credit yet (usually), but that is the least of our concerns.... On a non-partisan basis, getting the facts to voters is what counts. Reporters have several times thanked us off the record. The host of these specific shows is an experienced constitutional lawyer who actually wrote the brief for the 2000 appeal to the SCOTUS who was staff to House Judiciary Committee for the Democrats....

As anyone comes across more of these, RK has been a great place to post them, but if there isn't a convenient diary open at the time, please email anything you get to JimS@NoVa.org or post them on the show blog at http://www.RadioInsideScoop.com ..... Where possible we also "force-feed" the information in proper investigative format to all the organizations, agencies and campaigns most affected to help them react the quickest and most appropriately. Kind of a "one-stop" "informant"......

This will be the 12th General, Special, or Primary election we have done this for in the last almost 4 years.  We don't want credit, we just want to neutralize the effects and damage as much as possible from these jerks and criminals.... something Public Access TV can do effectively since there are no sponsors to apply pressure.... thanks for all your help.... We've been told its made a difference....

Thank you (Teddy - 10/28/2008 10:52:05 AM)
and keep up the good work. Question: during the time you've been exposing these lies and scams, how many have you found and publicized? And are they all in Virginia, mainly Northern Virginia, or where?

When we started this we could only get relatively local info only (Used2Bneutral - 10/28/2008 12:23:42 PM)
But now with the expanded coverage of the blogs and the use of UTube etc. We can get the quality of documents to verify the offense a lot easier and also in those last two weeks when they really happen. To answer your question, the intentionally mis-labeled as to authorization mailers that went out against Kaine, the similar documents that attacked Leslie Byrne, and all the local mis-direction flyers that were being used in numerous campaigns.... I would guess it has been several dozens for sure.....

The most brazen and the one I was most annoyed about was the Robo-Call against Delegate Mark Sickles 4 years ago..... on the night before the election in the Alexandria area, a robo-call went out to his district saying that "Mark had died suddenly and since it was too late to change the ballots just vote for the other guy"..... Mark's HQ was swamped with well wishers asking where to send the flowers etc.... this is one that I really think should have been traced and prosecuted.....

The ugliest with racial overtones have been the flyers that were put under the windshield wipers of cars parked at churchs on the Sunday before the election in tradionally "Black" churches. The flyer would announce a change in poling places and/or precincts and would carry offical logos and seals to appear authentic....

I fear repeating more examples so as to avoid copy-cat offenses this year with the hightened level of emotions, But the one that started me doing lots of videos of every debate I can was the one done by the Republican Chris Craddock's campaign people. It was targeted against Chuck Caputo his first time running in the 67th district here in far west Fairfax County. The Craddock campaign secretly video'd Chuck giving a 23 minute speech on the issues and his intentions. The Craddock Campaign then spent a bunch of Grover Norquist money to edit those 23 minutes down to 90 seconds that seemed to show Chuck saying he would sponsor and vote to increase taxes by 9 billion dollars. In fact Chuck had stated how they could essentially still balance the existing tax base and accomplish all the major re-allocations that were needed without a tax increase....

I hope each year for a boring show..... but somehow I feel this may be a bad year....
