This Just In! We've all been brainwashed...

This was sent to me by someone I know who is a virulent John McCain supporter.  She sent it with the heading 'Really Scary, Scary Stuff."  Apparently, anyone who supports Barrack Obama does so not because he is a better candidate who has laid out a better plan for America and because we believe he possesses the qualities and attributes we want to lead us.

Nope.  We've all be hypnotized by Obama's subtle pacing of his speech, the gestures he makes, and the wording he uses.  Yup, all those "umms" and "urms" are part of a diabolical plan to make a nation of zombies ready to worship at his feet.

And, no, unfortunately, I'm not making this up.

Check this out.

"Vote for me on November 4th" is a highly sophisticated technique used by only a handful of politicians versed in NLP.

Never mind that the early voting statistics alone put the lie to the tinfoil argument advanced in the McCain supporter piece about the election "programming".

Another "tell" is the idea that only a "few" psychologists and hypnotists are familiar with these practices -- and now only the "select" are being let in on the "true secret" -- a rhetorical trick that the author employs, which is in itself is a nice manipulation technique.

Given that the article seems to be targeted towards wingnut authoritarians it is also quite natural that the author would first appeal to an authority figure (e.g. an M.D.) -- a manipulation technique of sorts -- to bolster his or her line of argument.

The use of footnotes too in a certain kind of article with out regard for the quality of the citations is also a kind of manipulation technique.  Needless to say, I doubt that this is a typical "peer-reviewed" research article.

What's really crazy is that people would actually believe the bull-sh-t suggested in the article.  Disseminating the article too through "trusted" sources is another "manipulation" technique if you want to get down to it.  The only difference between the linked article and the typical loony "secret Muslim" chain emails is the formatting.

Well this just proves one of two things.
Either this hypnosis technique only works on Democrats OR Republicans have never heard Obama speak.

Amazing.

I knew it (relawson - 10/28/2008 7:30:56 AM)
I first realized something was up when I showed up at the polling site in my sleep with an Obama button on.

This is all part of his plan to convert us all to Muslims, divorce our spouses in favor of the someone of the same sex (though that does seem to contradict Muslim law), and turn in our guns to the government.  Thank you comrad for bringing this to our attention.

I guess I should cancel my membership in the communist takeover group on meetup.com now that I realize this has all been a result of an elaborate mass brainwashing.  I'll tell my wife not to bake the cupcakes.

Actually I've Been Saying This For Years (norman swingvoter - 10/28/2008 1:04:12 PM)
I have been saying this for years about those who primarily watch Fox News, Lambaugh, etc.  I know some of these folks.  They can spew out 2-3 word talking points on command. They honestly believe everyone else except Fox News and friends is against them.  If that isn't brainwashing, I don't know what is.

Hidden Hypnosis??? (Catzmaw - 10/28/2008 1:05:10 PM)
Where was this stuff when my kids were growing up and I was trying to get them to help with the housework and get their homework done?

I'm going to study up on these techniques and hypnotize everyone into agreeing with me about everything from now on.
