The unthinkable?

Has the Bush administration officially reached its nadir of legitimacy? Are they now conducting America's foreign policy with the aim of influencing domestic politics?

The Kristol Plan, that Bush/Cheney would begin posturing, or even outright expanding American military presence throughout the world, when the campaign reached its endstage, appears to have come to fruition. Although reports are less than 100% clear, it appears that American forces in Iraq conducted a raid over the border into Syria. Four U.S. helicopters attacked a farm approximately five miles inside Syrian territory, killing 8 people, including 4 children. Stories here, here, and here. Australian news is reporting that U.S. spy drones carried out bombing raids in Pakistan as well.
If these reports from the Syrians and Pakistanis are true, and they appear to be, they represent the newest low for an administration we all thought couldn't sink any lower. For all of their talk and bluster about protecting American security, they would sacrifice it all for a last-ditch, grasping-at-straws attempt to maintain their neocon stranglehold on the White House.

It is our duty as patriotic citizens to protect our own security by kicking these warmongers out. There are 8 days left. Write letters to your local newspapers. Talk to your friends and convince them why none of us can stand for a party that puts power politics over sound policy. Show them that these scare tactics will backfire. As Tom Perriello is so fond of saying, history will not write itself; we control what happens on November 4th, and what kind of government we have on January 21, 2009.
