We're in "now or never" territory, folks.  If you were planning on doing some volunteering or voting early or emailing friends and family, no more procrastinating.  For the home stretch, I'll post a daily open thread where you all can discuss ideas and suggestions for last-week action, with some pointers from me as well.  As always, the "Obama Central" graphic here and on the side bar links to Obama's Virginia volunteer page.

THIS IS THE LAST DAY OF IN-PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING. Time to make those reminder phone calls and emails to your early vote targets that can vote today -- or just take 'em to the polls. More in Sunday's diary and at Obama's Vote Early in Virginia page. (Check with your local registrars office on times, include whether they're open today).

Since it's the last big weekend, perhaps you have time to do a lot of different things?  So, check out the jump for links to possible action items, or just head to your closest campaign office-- they'll put you to work!

Oh, and if you're going to a football game in Virginia today, wear your Obama gear proudly!

Okay, the open thread is open for all volunteering and voting related discussion!  Previous open threads linked on the flip....

Long early voting lines this morning.  95-minute wait.

According to WTOP 4 hr wait in Arlington..... (Used2Bneutral - 11/1/2008 3:08:12 PM)
Arlington = Dems..... Good!!!

not to be misunderstood... good because lots of Dems !!! (Used2Bneutral - 11/1/2008 3:09:14 PM)

Long lines in Fairfax too... (ericy - 11/1/2008 4:09:51 PM)

About 2 hours.  We were at the McLean location, so there were a number of Republicans there.

My wife was needling the guy in front of us in line who was voting for McCain - the guy was muttering something about how McCain would protect us from socialism or some such.  But he had the foresight to bring reading material (Machiavelli's "The Prince".  No, I am not kidding - that's really what he was reading).

Today (Great Blue - 11/1/2008 11:56:53 PM)
I saw an 80 year old woman vote for the first time.  She came with her granddaughter, and waited patiently in line.  She watched the demonstration on the machine twice, and tried it out cautiously.  Then she turned in her absentee form and voted. Her granddaughter had tears in her eyes, and gave her a big hug before they left.
