Protect the Vote - don't let anyone's vote go UNCOUNTED

I volunteered for Promote the Vote in VA. These volunteers are trained to make sure that no voter is improperly turned away from casting their ballot.  Initiatives that have successfully deprived tens of thousands of voters, primarily African Americans, are documented in the movie UNCOUNTED and are credited with the turning point for the Republicans in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. Don't let this happen again!

Easy links are below. The job allows you to do everything from helping voters cover any political tees that are considered "electioneering," to making sure any provisional ballots are really required and are properly submitted. This is all very critical to helping the new voters in VA, and critical to making their experience one they want to repeat in 2 years!

I'll send you the contact email if you leave a note.  Thank you for making VA blue.  And to the new voters and new democrats, "Welcome to the fight. This time I know our side will win!"

I just came from another of many trainings we have had this year (Used2Bneutral - 10/26/2008 4:27:55 PM)
The countless trainings, the materials, the organization /infrastructure, the energy and the competent legal minds that are behind the efforts this year are amazing.... Last year I did a small part and helped produce a single updated video that alone helped train a thousand lawyers statewide in 48 hours just before election day.... this year the teams are so far past that..... the best part of this is that from day one the Dems have made it a basic premise that all of our efforts are non-partisan with respect to helping everybody and anybody that wants to vote.....

Now in 10 days we will know how successful we will have been, almost no matter who wins....

Every Fairfax precinct will have two Dem lawyers (notjohnsmosby - 10/26/2008 6:39:21 PM)
One inside to monitor and assist with name checking, the other outside.  All precincts, from Sully to Mason, high DPI or highly Republican, all day, inside and out.
