Biden: McCain Ought to Punch Jeff Frederick

Nightline tonight did a profile on Joe Biden.  They asked him about the Chair of the Republican Party, Jeff Frederick, and his efforts to have volunteers make a connection between Obama and Osama Bin Laden.

Biden was aghast.  He had never heard of such a thing.  The very idea was so far beyond his honest sense of genuine decency, that he just couldn't imagine another human being capable of such utter sleaze.  Biden was so astonished by the repulsive idiocy of Jeff Frederick, he could barely collect his thoughts:

"I don't believe it ... I can't believe it," Biden said. "I'm surprised John McCain hasn't gone down and whacked the guy with his fist. I mean, I don't think there's a prejudiced bone in John McCain's body. But that kind of stuff is really off the wall. I refuse to let myself believe John McCain has anything to do with any of that."

It just shows the class of the man that in the face of the racism and bile inspired by the John McCain's scurrilous attacks, Biden still defends the man's character.  That's Joe Biden, the man who will stand beside Barack Obama at the inauguration next January to put an end to the Bush Era.

The age of hate in politics is ending.  The Jeff Fredericks and Sarah Palins have already destroyed the Republican Party, and without rebuke from John McCain.  The fish truly rots from the head down, and in America it's time for some fresh air.

Thanks to What IS Right for Virginia for the transcript.

Well in all fairness... (doctormatt06 - 10/14/2008 1:42:47 AM)
McCain did need someone to lead his 'Racists for McCain' outreach program....so can't blame for McCain for choosing the right guy....maybe we should recommend that Obama start paying Frederick, cuz wow...he's just doing a GREAT job to get people to see the Republican party for what it is.

Epic! (Johnny Camacho - 10/14/2008 1:45:30 AM)
If McCain does decide to punch Jeff Frederick, I sure hope someone gets video. I would pay to see it.

Even Dave Albo (!) condemns Frederick's remarks (Lowell - 10/14/2008 5:23:33 AM)
See this Washington Post editorial, which blisters Jeff Frederick (and deservedly so):

Both the Obama and McCain campaigns denounced Mr. Frederick's remarks. Even Virginia Republicans have chastised Mr. Frederick. Del. David B. Albo (Fairfax) told us that Mr. Frederick's comments were "ridiculous." "We don't need to make up stuff about Barack Obama," he said. "We can talk about policies to win the election." Virginia has a proud tradition of responsible leadership, and the pragmatism of Republicans such as Rep. Tom Davis and Sen. John W. Warner stands in stark contrast to Mr. Frederick's fear-mongering. Is this really the leader Virginia Republicans want?

Sadly, with a few exceptions - at least so far - the answer to that last question appears to be "yes."

As does the Lynchburg News & Advance (Lowell - 10/14/2008 5:42:37 AM)
See here:

"It is a sad commentary on the state of political discourse in this nation and this commonwealth when someone in a position such as Frederick's resorts to cheap, nonsensical rhetoric."

One More Lie from Jeff (Robley Jones - 10/14/2008 8:12:21 AM)
Democrats should find a way to keep Frederick in his current position.  Republican should recall him for their own good.  He is the best thing that ever happened to the DPVA.

This is that same guy who warned people not to register to vote as they might have their identities stolen.

This is the same guy who claims to be a friend of education but voted in the last session to cut $175 million from P-12 school funding.

This is the same guy that embarrassed the Virginia Education Association by claiming that an email to 400 political activists regarding Obama Blue day was a call on all teachers to wear blue to school to indoctrinate and coerce children into voting for Obama.  What is the voting age anyway?

I just can't figure Frederick's tactics.  He is state Republican Party Chairman.  His Senate candidate is 30 points behind in the polls. His party is poised to lose at least one congressional seat. His Presidential candidate is falling behind in this reliably Republican state, the state budget is a mess, and the national economy is tanking.  Shouldn't his attention be on his challenge at hand?

My guess this that the Democrats are thankful for his efforts to drive young voters, centrists and teachers away from his own party.  I'm sure they are thankful for his leadership.  Where is John Hager when we need him?

Please encourage Mr. Frederick to renege on his promise not to run for his House seat.

By standing by and letting guys like that (KathyinBlacksburg - 10/14/2008 10:09:13 AM)
run the McCain operation in VA, John McCain has chosen wrongly.  He may or may not have a "racist bone in his body."  I do not know how Joe Biden knows that for sure.  But we sure know that John McCain is allowing this stuff.  He took away one microphone way too late.  And that does not redeem him for what his campaign has become.

In any case, he will not do what he needs to do--take responsibility for the terrible rage he and Palin have stoked.  But the truth is it is probably too late.  He has unleashed the crazies.  And Jeff Frederick kicks it up a notch.  This should be put at John McCain's feet.

Oh you can be sure (oldsoldier - 10/14/2008 1:23:57 PM)
Biden is right and McCain doesn't have a racist bone in his body.  Back in 2000 when my obsession with the need for a constitutional amendment on CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM caused me to cross-over and vote for him in the VA republican primary, he had more bones than he needed.

Then false slurs caused the intelligentsia of South Carolina to "Vote for the Dummy" and it crushed McCain's bones in his need to prove to his mother that he is the equal of his grandfather and father to where he embraced the "anthitesis" of leader (GWB didn't risk his body in contact sports, ala Trent Lott, let alone skipped Vietnam) who should have "pi**ed him off", to go for the Pinata GWB's handlers promised him.

John is not a racist.  He's not a lot of other things, and as an old soldier I never voted for him because of his service.  Indeed, I am getting really tired of the non-serving Republican (or Democrat) "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE".

Crap, You don't want to pay taxes to support mine or anyone elses service and you are not the least bit concerned that we no longer can manufacture the small arms ammunitions our troops are firing and have to buy them from among, Godbless my EXPLETIVE, from COMMUNIST FU**CKING CHINA.  And I challenge you CHICKEN HAWKS who want to criticize and otherwise say your civilian experiences TRUMP my military experiences.

John has broken all of his bones beyond the help of Viagra for this vet and the biggest bone he has broken is the bone of honor and truth.

He HUNGERS to exceed his daddy and granddady so much that honor no longer means anything to him.

that sounds familiar (Josh - 10/14/2008 1:50:55 PM)
Do we need another Bush Maverick with daddy issues in the White House?  Hasn't worked very well for the past 8 years.  The more you learn about McCain the more you see he's more of the same. It's like it's in his psychological DNA

And BTW, (KathyinBlacksburg - 10/14/2008 10:15:58 AM)
whatever he does now, it is too late.  He has ramped up too much fear, ratcheted up the bellicose (fight, fight, fight, fight fight, and on and on) talk day by day,he has joked about attacking another country, he has made numerous false claims against Obama.  If he had any honor or decency left, he would just step aside, along with his VP, suspend their campaign for good, and just admit that he is incapable of the leadership America needs. He is an embarrassment.  His and Palin's macaca moment has come and gone.  And we should stop pretending his candidacy is serious anymore.  He's a wingnut, plain and simple.  And wingnut Palin and her secessionist palls (if you haven't already, read Max Blumenthal's article at Salon.com about Sarah actually palling around with secessionists).  Her role with them is FAR greater than the media will tell Americans.

Listening to his speech yesterday it is clear, he actually thinks America owes it to him!  The presidency is not an entitlement.  Or did John McCain forget his party supposedly doesn't believe in them?

Kathy, He is Entitled or (oldsoldier - 10/14/2008 1:46:52 PM)
did you post before I said:
He HUNGERS to exceed his daddy and granddady so much that honor no longer means anything to him.

as a military man the West Point motto of "Duty, Honor, Country" always amazed me because my experiences with West Point Officers varied when they became obstacles to career progression.

I may have more if anyone wants it.
