I know this is a Virginia Site, and I wish I could compile links and info for all the counties and cities in Virginia, but I am a little strapped for time.

If someone wants to pick up other counties/cities, that would be awesome!

This Diary focuses on Northern Virginia, and how to Absentee Vote in Person. I did so in Loudoun County last Friday and it is super easy. More below the fold.

If you are interested in In Person Absentee Voting, there are some rules and information.

You have to have an excuse why you are voting early. Don't worry... there are a lot of reasons why you can vote Absentee.

Depending on where you live in the NoVA area will determine where and when you can vote In person Absentee.

Each jurisdiction has different hours and rules, so please read. The Deadline for in Person Absentee is Nov 1 in most places. Double check to make sure.

This is a great way to vote early, and avoid the hassels on election day. Absentee Ballots are counted on Election day as with all the other votes. They are condensed into a single precint in the county/city (usually called the Central Absentee Precint) and are recorded with the other results on election night. It is also a good idea if you are considering helping your favored campaign in the last 72 hours, GOTV, or driving people to the polls. If you are going to volunteer for a Campaign, Vote absentee, it saves you stress.

Currently, 10 states have some form of Early voting going on right now. In Georiga, over 350,000 people have already voted early. So for many people, the election is already over.

In Fairfax County (Glant - 10/14/2008 12:04:17 AM)
There will be 8 locations to cast an absentee ballot starting Wednesday -- The Fairfax County Government Center (which is also open on Tuesday) and the 7 local government centers.

Fairfax

If you qualify to vote absentee, I suggest going ahead and voting early to avoid the long lines on election day.

I voted on Tuesday! (DanKalbacher - 10/15/2008 10:01:41 PM)
Went to the government center and got everything done!  In and out in about 15 minutes!  I'm sure everyone is seeing how volunteers are going around and encouraging absentee voting (if eligible obviously) to avoid the extremely long waits that are to be expected!
On that note, I think the early voting is going to be a big help to the Democrats this cycle with how everything is happening with the economy and such!  We'll have to wait and see the absolute end result!

Voted today at Courthouse (notthebasement - 10/21/2008 6:13:24 PM)
It took less than 10 minutes... I feel good about it.
