Imagine the uproar if Michelle Obama was revealed to have joined a black nationalist party whose founder preached armed secession from the United States and who enlisted the government of Iran in his cause? The Obama campaign would probably not have survived such an explosive revelation. Particularly if Barack Obama himself was videotaped giving the anti-American secessionists his wholehearted support just months ago.Indeed, where is the response from all these Palin supporters who are ever so patriotic? Where are the pitchforks calling for the Republican Party to clean slate and start over? Is it pride that keeps them quiet?
People on the left tend to be gracious enough to allow any and all opposition to speak. That's what democracy is about. That's why we can burn the flag, make fun of the president, and protest in the streets. Not that these are always good options but they are available.
