Update: Goode's Fine with Racist, Former Buchanan County GOP Official Bobby May

Yesterday, the Danville Register & Bee published an article entitled: Controversial columnist a longtime contractor for Goode's campaigns

Over past election cycles, Goode has spent more than $100,000 on campaign gear from May, including buttons, pins and fans. Goode's spending report from the Federal Election Commission shows he spent $3,298 on May's supplies this year. Goode spent $38,866 on the campaign gear in 2006 and $28,860 in 2004.

In the article, the reporter points to Goode's relationship with disgraced (forced to resign from the McCain campaign) and racist GOP columnist Bobby May.  Earlier this week, I posted a diary that outlined Goode's financial relationship with May - Racist Columnist Advertises: I'm a fan of Virgil Goode

Goode has paid Bobby May close to $100,000 for campaign paraphernalia in the 5th District.

According to the article, Virgil Goode submitted a written statement that showed how little he is worried about having such a striking association with a notorious bigot - - his own party has done everything that it can to denounce May and put as much distance between him and the McCain campaign.

Goode, R-Rocky Mount, said he isn't in a rush to discontinue contracts with May.

"Bobby May is not and has not been on my campaign staff," Goode said in a written statement. "I will take a look at the controversial material and make an evaluation and judgment after I have done that."

Why is Virgil not taking a stronger stand against Bobby May's actions?

Why is Virgil trying to cover up his $100,000 relationship with May and suggesting that because he is not on staff that it is ok for his campaign to endorse racism in Virginia?

What will Virgil's decision be after he takes "a look at the controversial material" as he said he would?

Will we see more Goode expenditures supporting May through November?

Why is Goode afraid of answering the tough questions about his campaign?
