This new ad from Tom Perriello is great!

The fallout on the internet from Virgil Goode's negative attack ad is amazing. From Raising Kaine to The Huffington Post to many other lesser known blogs, Virgil is being soundly condemned.

Kick ass, Tom! (cycle12 - 9/30/2008 9:13:21 AM)
Now, that's a kick-ass ad!

Go Tom!

Pretty good (Silence Dogood - 9/30/2008 10:51:43 AM)
I usually watch them the first couple of times without the sound on and try and guess the message of the ad (I think that's usually the best way to interpret the effectiveness of the images at conveying the message).  Some of the message gets lost, but what's left is effective, and I'd venture to guess that I should be really impressed at the decision to use a NASCAR metaphor with voters in this part of the state (but we'll see how well it connects with them).

great! (GAida - 9/30/2008 11:46:46 AM)

How is this ad "hitting on nascar"? (Juniperus - 9/30/2008 9:31:50 PM)
It's using a nascar analogy. Anyway, I don't understand this criticism of donations coming from outside the district. People in NY and CA are donating to Perriello probably because they know him, they support his policies and want to see him in Congress, or they think Goode is a great big bigot and want to see him out of Congress.  Individuals making donations aren't trying to buy his influence (unlike the huge contributions Virgie takes from PACs, lobbyists, and corporations).  Those are the donations people in the 5th district should be most worried about.

Obviously it's not "hitting on nascar" (Lowell - 9/30/2008 9:35:19 PM)
Sometimes blog comments are simply not worth responding to.

As to where the contributions are coming from, how about Virgil explain all the money he's gotten from MZM and other sleazy situations like that. I'm a MILLION times more concerned about than I am with Tom getting some of his money from outside the district (in fact, I'm not concerned about that at all, but whatever...).

New York, California and NASCAR (aznew - 10/1/2008 2:50:37 PM)
The issue is not where the donations are from, but whether or not the source of the donations may influence a Congressman's position on an issue.

The problem is not Goode just taking money from these corporate interests, but his taking money from these corporate interests and then voting in their interests, even when it is not necessarily in the interests of his district.

Of course, you realize this, which is why you posted this third-rate attempt to deflect the issues.

This is a great ad (Dan - 9/30/2008 10:54:47 PM)
A lot of Nascar fans down there.  This is a GREAT analogy for them.
