McCain snarls at Katie Couric, call voters "gotcha journalists"

I thought these Couric-Palin interviews were bad enough for the McCain campaign because of Palin's poor, nonsensical answers.  But then McCain showed up and decided to act all grumpy, and attack voters as "gotcha journalists" in the process!

I mean, are they trying to lose this election on purpose?

The rumor is (Ron1 - 9/29/2008 9:59:17 PM)
that CBS has more video footage of that now legendary, disastrous interview of Palin with Katie Couric -- and in it, Governor Palin can not name even one Supreme Court decision other than Roe v. Wade.

If that clip comes out, that will destroy whatever cred she has left with independents and moderates.

I mean, Marbury v. Madison? Plessy v. Ferguson? Dred Scott? Brown v. Board of Education? Uh, Bush v. Gore?!?

That a candidate for the Vice President isn't curious or knowledgable enough to know of even one other major Supreme Court decision is shocking. She'd be the freaking President of the Senate, where Supreme Court Justices are confirmed -- and not know of any cases they've decided except for Roe?

McCain deserves everything coming to him because of his cynical and selfish desires.

Think about (Teddy - 9/29/2008 10:01:05 PM)
how much she knows about the constitution. Such a scholar.

Plays well with the base (Teddy - 9/29/2008 9:59:40 PM)
Governor Palin handled Couric better than her First Boy. Look to hear more about Gotcha Journalism, too; we all know the liberal press is out to get the honest reformer from the Far West.

Interestingly, while canvassing this past weekend, I ran into a member of the religious right (80-year old gentleman spouting Revelation, anti-abortion, and "ethics reform"), and he thinks Palin is the best of the four candidates*, a true reformer with firm religious values who will be the only one who can reform those corrupt anti-God Washington folks, just as she did in Alaska. Not only that, he said that McCain is the only possible leader "because WAR is coming," and it's all foretold in Revelations, which is the exact word of God. The way it's going, this type of voter may be represent the only base McCain  will have left, if he keeps on as he's been doing.

Did you notice, he really seemed to want to pat Palin's knee there, when she answered for him, facing down Couric.
  * Note: the gentleman was from New York, originally a Clinton supporter.

Look again (Gezi - 9/29/2008 10:10:26 PM)
Watch the expressions on their faces at three key moments:

Couric: taken aback when McCain cuts off Palin (1:17)

McCain: masking a cringe when Palin says "hollerin' out a question" (1:35)

Palin: awkwardly smiling the entire time McCain is talking (0:52-1:30)

Priceless!

Train wreck. (Tiderion - 9/29/2008 10:52:09 PM)
Whether people acknowledge it or not.

Gergen tonight on Anderson Cooper 360: (VA Breeze - 9/30/2008 12:24:36 AM)
like McCain was there keeping an eye on his daughter

Where is Jeff Foxworthy (Peninsula Pete - 9/30/2008 6:29:28 AM)
Sarah Palin would be far more comfortable, albeit, just as successful, answering questions from Jeff Foxworthy on "are you smarter than a 5th Grader"!!!!!

She is out of her league, and McCain's temperment is coming through as the 'grumpy old man" with shining colors.

So he allegedly "suspends" his campaign (although there is no evidence he actually did) to fly to Warshington (his pronounciation) to 'SAVE THE DAY' for this bailout mess, only he didn't.  Then he blames Obama?  Oh yeah, just the kind of leadership we need.  Another clueless, dull-witted, lip-drooling Bush!

If it weren't for the entertainment value of this election, I'd be in tears!

I think (Cliff Garstang - 9/30/2008 8:55:43 AM)
you're on to something with the Foxworthy thing, not only for his 5th Grader show, but his old standup routine, as well.

I'm going to speak for the rest of us and say, "No.  This woman is not a redneck.  We get enough of a bad rap already, and some of it's deserved, and some of it isn't, and yes some of us did make a song called "Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk" a hit, but we haven't done anything so bad to deserve being associated with this person."
