McCain fiddled (with his gourmet food) while the nation's economy almost burned

This is classic!

So lawmakers struck a deal on the bailout last night, but where was John McCain?

Was he part of the negotiations that he rushed back to Washington, DC to rescue? Was he valiantly battling the forces of the status quo to get something done for Main Street?

Nope. Instead, "McCain dined at Cafe Mozu...[a] sophisticated pan-Asian [restaurant] at the opulent Mandarin Oriental Hotel," with his wife, Cindy, and his "Best Friends Forever" Joe and Hadassah Lieberman.

Here is how Cafe Mozu describes its food.

Lunch and dinner menus showcase irresistible selections such as Roasted five spices Duck, raisin couscous, orange scented curry jus", Crispy Wild Salmon with fingerling potatoes, Brussels sprouts and haricots verts, Braised Pork Belly with sweet potato puree, baby onions and goat cheese polenta and Black Sea Bass with bok choy, string beans, snow bean sprouts and aromatic lemongrass broth.

Heavenly desserts from our pastry department include a Bitter Chocolate and Passion Fruit Mousse, Flourless Poppy Seed Cake, Lychee Cr+żme Brulee and Champagne-Verbena Parfait.

***snark*** As I'm sure tens of millions of struggling middle class and working class Americans could attest, it's a tough choice between the Champagne-Verbena Parfait and the Lychee Cr+żme Brulee. Heck, let them eat (flourless poppy seed) cake! :) ***end snark***

Meanwhile, the Washington Post review of Cafe Mozu emphasizes the restaurant's "understated elegance and almost postcard-worthy view."  My question is whether that "view" allowed McCain to watch as his colleagues worked hard to prevent the U.S. economy from going up in flames, as he dined with Holy Joe et al. Bon appetit!

Obama wins debate... clearly (DanG - 9/28/2008 1:28:48 PM)
Check this out:

Gallup did a poll after people let the debate "sink in" rather than an immediate gut result.  Numbers still great or Obama.  A 12 point win.  No wonder he's surging in the polls.

And though VP debates usually don't make a difference, somehow I get the feeling that this one just might.

As I have thrown catered parties there... (doctormatt06 - 9/28/2008 1:58:44 PM)
It is quite the opulent place.

Do you think that (Tiderion - 9/28/2008 2:05:58 PM)
Palin could see Russia from there? I understand she only goes places where she can keep her eye on them.

I think McCain could see the end of his campaign (Lowell - 9/28/2008 2:06:57 PM)
from his table with Cindy, Joe and Hadassah. :)

So could McSame see the Fredericksburg rally from there? (VA Breeze - 9/28/2008 5:51:42 PM)
Big enough crowd..

Who takes the whole weekend off with just a month to go before the election?

His schedule was clear (Great Blue - 9/28/2008 6:49:01 PM)
through 9/29 according to his website.  I think he just doesn't have anywhere to go, or anyone to see.  Maybe he "suspended" his campaign because he can't get anybody to show up.  A Jim-Gilmore-type problem.

On Friday, children being cared for while their mothers prayed in a mosque were gased after this dvd Obsession hit the town (Dayton, Ohio).

The McCain race is making dangerous new wounds for Muslims.
Two Virginia newspapers sent out the DVD.  Sun-Gazette, Virginian-Pilot

This attack needs a diary (Teddy - 9/29/2008 10:43:07 AM)
of its own here and on Daily Kos, a few calls to national media to cover the story, and, when doing so, include the facts about the cooperation of the Department of Defense and the McCain campaign in issuing the DVD, and the unforgivable cooperation of the two newspapers in mass distribution of the DVD.

I am speechless at what can only be called domestic terrorism and the despicable insertion of the government by enabling the terrorism. As for the Republican presidential campaign, I have long since concluded that nothing is beneath that party when it comes to campaigning and grasping for power. I wonder why it took me so long to see this before I left and became a Democrat.
