Why Obama "won" the debate - which was a "tie"

I know this is all very confusing (my contradicting title) but I believe Obama won the debate on foreign policy because it WAS a tie.

McCain was suppose to be strongest in foreign policy - at least that is his sales pitch.  He needed to do more than survive this debate, he needed to knock down Obama.  The closest he came to knocking Obama down was on the "pre-conditional meetings with foreign leaders".  McCain made a nuanced argument when he should have made a character assasination.  I don't think his argument on that specific issue changed minds.

It is only going to get worse for McCain.  In the next debate we will be talking more about the economy - and Republicans have a long, shameful history of eroding labor rights, wrecklessly signing free trade agreements, and being AWOL when it comes to regulating industry.

And for the first time in 8 years (despite the delegate fiasco here in Florida) we will win in Florida!  I believe that Obama will win Florida - and unlike Gore we will make sure every vote for him counts.

I mentioned in another thread that McCain lost by not winning.

Most talking heads agree that Obama pasted the 'CiC' test, which was critical.
