"You were wrong" (Lowell - 9/26/2008 11:37:38 PM)

oh yeah and the fox news cell phone txt msg poll (bcat - 9/26/2008 11:43:53 PM)
82% say McCain won. Cough cough.

The results (Rebecca - 9/26/2008 11:44:41 PM)
I don't think Obama did very well. By that I mean I thought he let McCain get to him too often which caused him to interrupt too often. But these poll results seem to indicate that what he said carried enough weight for people to trust him more than McCain.

I enjoyed the Obama-Hillary debates better. The Obama-McCain debates are simply boring to me since I already know where both candidates stand.

McCain will always have a career in books on tape -bed time books that is. He really puts me to sleep. Nighty night.

This debate might have changed the game (Tiderion - 9/26/2008 11:54:03 PM)
but it was pretty boring and neither candidate did well. But I do agree that Obama countered every blow that we were expecting.

We'll see what happens at the next presidential debate and if either of them modify their strategy. I was actually expecting more brute force from both.

fox news poll (pvogel - 9/26/2008 11:52:45 PM)
Not scientific, maybe not even real

Mccain 110%
Obama -10%

As usual, take with a grain of salt.

McCain only got 110% in Faux? (Lowell - 9/27/2008 6:02:20 AM)
What happened? :)

The CBS poll is even better than that (Chris Guy - 9/26/2008 11:57:10 PM)
38% thought it was a draw, so 78% thought Obama won or tied. And this is McCain's area of expertise? Ouch.

McCain made up a number of statements, but he fabricated (KathyinBlacksburg - 9/26/2008 11:57:11 PM)
the content of the second letter he claimed Eisenhower wrote.  Eisenhower never said he'd resign.

angry and arrogant vs. prepared and unflappable (Josh - 9/26/2008 11:58:17 PM)
McCain just seems pissed off.  Obama has composure and knoweldge.  When Obama talks McCain is wincing... obviously wants to scream.  When McCain is talking, Obama is holding his head high.

I agree with that observation .... (ub40fan - 9/27/2008 1:21:48 AM)
McCain was much better than I expected him to be .... but he's like an angry old man. Who's he more pissed off about? The Bush regime or Obama's cool and consistent demeanor?

Obama always had excellent come back points that blunted McCain's efforts to simplify and define Obama as "naive".

I think this was a good debate for Obama and I look forward to the remaining ones.

Palin has got to be sweating bullets right now .... Katie Couric made her look like a Beauty Queen answering questions about saving the world.... no it was worse than that ... Palin as a conservative woman noted at the NRO is out of her league.

Obama stood ground and some (hereinva - 9/27/2008 12:43:51 AM)
Mac went on the attack and reminded folks (2 times) that he was "not Miss Congeniality"..shouldn't that be "not Mr. Congeniality"? His V.P.pick was selected "Miss Congeniality".

His critique of the ear mark for studying bear DNA with the chuckle line "didn't know if it was a paternity issue or a criminal issue" is also a re-hash from past stump speechs.

from Abc Newsblog

It turns out, the state of Alaska under Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, sought millions in federal funds to study the genetics of harbor seals, and gather data on halibut fisheries and sea crabs.

The reason he wasn't voted "Miss Congeniality" (Lowell - 9/27/2008 6:04:28 AM)
is very simple: he's a temperamental, hotheaded jerk and almost nobody (except for Holy Joe the Traitor) likes him. It's not because he's a "maverick," that's a load of manure.

Poor Grumpy... (Lowell - 9/27/2008 6:49:10 AM)

I keep reading (martha - 9/27/2008 6:50:54 AM)
about McCain not looking at Obama and it being condesecnding and arrogant.
What are the thoughts about that?

Obama is NOT a debater but I thought he held his own for sure.

No question he won (Dan - 9/27/2008 12:52:40 PM)
I think a lot of people expected Obama to stumble a little bit, and he didn't.  His confidence grew as the debate went on.  He noticed John McCain start to get rattled and he got stronger and stronger.  How can anyone ever again compare Obama to Sarah Palin!
