61 Nobel Prize Scientists Strongly Endorse Obama

After 8 years of contempt for science, of disdain for the facts, of an "assault on reason," the world's top scientists - and those of us who care about issues ranging from embryonic stem cell research to global warming - have obviously had enough.

This year's presidential election is among the most significant in our nation's history. The country urgently needs a visionary leader who can ensure the future of our traditional strengths in science and technology and who can harness those strengths to address many of our greatest problems: energy, disease, climate change, security, and economic competitiveness.

We are convinced that Senator Barack Obama is such a leader, and we urge you to join us in supporting him.

Read the entire letter here, and study that list of Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, physics, and medicine. That's incredibly impressive, as is the fact that "[t]his is the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a candidate for office, more than endorsed either Gore or Kerry."

Normally, I say that this election isn't "rocket science," but in this case the "rocket scientists" agree - Barack Obama will mark a clear break from the anti-science, know-nothing Republicans and open up a new era of scientific discoveries, medical breakthroughs, and progress on pressing issues like the melting polar ice caps.  If you care at all about any of this, you should seriously consider what those 61 Nobel Prize scientists have to say - namely, vote Barack Obama on November 4! :)

Please, Use Correct Terminology (HisRoc - 9/26/2008 5:06:29 PM)
Lowell,

Calling them "anti-science, know-nothing Republicans" is not correct.  It is akin to referring to the "Democrat Party."  Republicans are not anti-science or know-nothing.  In fact, they believe in alternative science and, just for your information, they know everything because God has them on His newsletter distribution.  They happen to know that the entire universe is about 6,000 years old and that dinosaurs and human beings co-existed about 5,900 years ago, shortly after Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden and just before the dinosaurs retired to become oil deposits.

The correct appellation is "knuckle-dragging, flat-earther Republicans."

:)
