"Nye is poised to defeat Drake."

Needless to say, I'm very happy to see this!

Glenn Nye has pulled within five points of Congresswoman Thelma Drake. After just two weeks of only positive television, Nye is poised to defeat Drake. Specifically:

GÇó With six weeks to go, Glenn Nye has closed to within five points, 40%-45%

And check this out:

Drake now has a net negative job rating-45% rate Drake's performance as a member of Congress as "excellent" or "good" while 47% rate her performance as "only fair" or "poor."

No wonder why Drake lashed out at Glenn Nye the other day at their debate, desperately trying to smear a man who has served our country in places like Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq while Drake has  simply sat in Washington, DC and egged them on (without providing them the support they need, both when they're overseas and when they come home).

In sum, "Glenn Nye's message - he is an independent voice for Hampton Roads who has volunteered to serve in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq - is clearly resonating with voters."  Thelma Drake's message - she is a Bush-Cheney rubber stamp who adheres to a discredited economic philosophy ("trickle down," "supply side," deregulate) that has brought us to a severe economic crisis.

In the 2nd CD, just as in so many other district (e.g., the 5th and the 10th), it is well past time for a change this year.  Please help Glenn go from "poised to defeat Thelma Drake" to "actually defeats Thelma Drake" by clicking here. Thanks, and go Glenn!

If Glenn has the resources to get his message out, he should win. Drake is trying to ride on McCain's POW and "maverick" coattails because she is so closely tied to the very unpopular Bush.  Obama on the ticket benefits Glenn tremendously, as the 2nd district is 20% African American.  If McCain continues to tank, Drake is going to have a very difficult time.

If anyone has a few dollars to donate, Glenn Nye's race is a worthy cause.

Have the local papers endorsed Nye? (bamboo - 9/26/2008 12:51:21 PM)
That should help. Perhaps DailyKos could call for support, too.

The newspaper endorsements won't be out for another month, at least.

The photo of Glenn Nye.... (Lawyer Mama - 9/28/2008 8:47:23 PM)
The photo up there of Glenn Nye, taken at the Virginia Democratic convention, is mine.  I certainly don't mind if you use it, even though my Flickr site (where this photo came from) indicates that all rights are reserved on this image.  I've told bloggers at Bearing Drift to feel free to use any of my political photos as well.  I do, however, ask for a photo credit. Sorry about that, but I'm also a professional photographer and my photos and my name are my currency.

Thanks so much.  Glad you liked the photo enough to use it!

Oh & I completely agree that Drake is running scared.
