"Putin rears his head?" Huh?

What on earth is Palin talking about?  I mean, even for her, this is painfully, embarassingly idiotic.

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is -- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state.

Putin "comes into the air space of the United States of America" via Alaska?  Oh really?  Then  why does Delta Airlines show the following flight routes from Moscow to the United States, heading WEST over the ATLANTIC not via the huge expanse of Siberia and Alaska.

Also, what on earth does THIS mean?

...our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of.

How can foreign countries be "in the state that I am the executive of?"  Russia and Canada are IN Alaska?  Ahhhhh...I see! :)

P.S. By the way, Governor Palin, the word is "caricature."

Lowell, you really need to append this front pager with (Ron1 - 9/25/2008 3:32:28 PM)
this video. It's mind-rending.

Reposted from the other Palin thread (Pain - 9/25/2008 3:36:34 PM)

This captures the complete train wreck that we are witnessing in Sarah Palin, except she's real life, which makes it scary.

LOL!!!!!!!!!! (Flipper - 9/25/2008 4:11:59 PM)
The Palin video is so painful to watch - she is so inarticulate and obviously she doesn't have a clue what she is talking about.  Alaskans should be embarassed electing her as their governor.  I

I am sending this out to those I know who are for McCain or undecided - this will move people.

Reminds me of Monty Python (legacyofmarshall - 9/25/2008 4:12:37 PM)
The witchcraft scene from Holy Grail...

"John McCain is from..." "Arizona?"
"And Arizona borders Mexico, a foreign country in the state of Arizona.  And therefore, John McCain is..."

"A MEXICAN!  BURN HIM!!!"

But does he FLOAT?!? (Lowell - 9/25/2008 4:15:26 PM)

Remember... (Rebecca - 9/25/2008 4:18:18 PM)
She's goin' to start fixin' things. She'll make sure the (enter a noun) has been done.

These are really phrases she used. Whew!

She CAN'T be that bad (Quizzical - 9/25/2008 6:00:28 PM)
There has to be a reasonable explanation.  Maybe Trig is teething, and she isn't getting enough sleep.  Maybe the pivot from less government is better to a $700 Billion bailout has fried her brain.

The VP Debate (jackiehva - 9/25/2008 6:37:33 PM)
I can't wait.

the McCain campaign.. (West Ailsworth - 9/25/2008 6:56:35 PM)
will find a way to get out of it...  I actually think they'd be better off if she just called in sick.

And she's hanging' with an anti-Semite too! (Lowell - 9/25/2008 7:51:46 PM)

See Andrew Sullivan for more, including his snarky comment, "Sure they vetted her."  What a debacle.  Heckuva job, McCain campaign!

Yeah, you weren't there Lowell (aznew - 9/25/2008 7:57:19 PM)
but we talked about this guy at the last annual meeting Of Jews Who Really Control The World in Zurich.

Hope you can make the next one. Several of the Elders of Zion wondered out loud where you were.

Cool! (Lowell - 9/25/2008 7:58:54 PM)
Is there good food? Kosher, of course? Ha.

Just complete incoherence from Palin on the economy (aznew - 9/25/2008 8:06:10 PM)
Seriously, I think at the end of the day people vote the top of the ticket, and so haven't focused much on Palin except for the entertainment value, but this is unbelievable. She clearly does not know what she is talking about, for the most part:

Really ... (ub40fan - 9/25/2008 9:37:17 PM)
I can't even watch this in it's entirety.

Katie Couric comes off as a hard ass ... but it's got to be tough for her sitting across from a person who could be the next Vice President  and Palin is just clueless.

Katie Couric is miles ahead of this lady in intellect and current events. In the end this is just very depressing.

Gumby would come off as a hard ass (Pain - 9/26/2008 6:47:53 AM)

Next to this woman, a teletubby looks like a hard ass, intellectually.

She's pathetic.

I Felt Sorry For Katie! (mmc0412 - 9/26/2008 10:39:20 AM)
She clearly had to dumb-down her questions just to try to get any type of coherent answer!  Must have been absolutely frustrating for Katie.

I figured it out! (Teddy - 9/25/2008 8:10:25 PM)
After hearing both Palin and the preacher on th tapes it is clear she is speaking in tongues. Whassa matter you? She makes perfect sense in that context.

Pena ajena... (Kindler - 9/26/2008 11:33:26 AM)
...is an expression in Spanish for when you feel embarrassed for someone else.

The lady makes Dan Quayle look like Winston Churchill by comparison.

OUCH!!!!

You People Just Don't Get It about Palin (Mule - 9/26/2008 1:23:49 PM)
Why in the world do you think that Sarah needs to know someting about foreign relations to be qualified for the office she seeks.  She has a direct line to God who will guide her.
