The NRA earns some Pinocchios

A deserved award:

While it is true that Obama favors tighter gun laws, it is a huge stretch to argue that he wants to take away the guns and ammunition most commonly used by hunters. The claim that he favors "a huge new tax on guns and ammo" rests on a confusingly worded 9-year-old newspaper article that has little relevance for Obama's platform as a presidential candidate. The NRA misfires on this one.

If the NRA wants to attack Obama for his record of wanting restrictions on armor-piercing bullets and assault weapons not used in hunting, then they should.  But, since attacking him for sensible restrictions on cop-killers wouldn't exactly go so well, all the NRA can do is demagogue and distort.

It's sad, really, that they have to resort to lies, smears, and fear-mongering
