Lowell for Senate!!!

Now that James Webb has decided not to run, we need a candidate with the same pluck and the same ferocity.  Someone who knows Virginia and has real American values and convictions.  Someone with a tireless spirit to fight for what he believes in.  Someone with a progressive mind and a kind heart.  That candidate is Lowell, and he is 100 times the man that George Allen could ever be in his wildest dreams!  For those of you who don?t know, Lowell is the fearless writer of many Raising Kaine articles.  He was the one who started Raising Kaine and brought it from a young pup into the fearsome machine that enabled Tim Kaine to run roughshod on Jerry Kilgore in the 2005 Gubernatorial election.

If Lowell debated George Allen, it would be the first time you?d see a cowboy pee his pants.  This is because Lowell doesn?t mess around or take any bull-crap.  George Allen would have to explain why he chose to support President Bush when he took his eyes off of Al Qaeda and went to Iraq.  He?d have to explain why he is satisfied with a polluted Chesapeake, and why he is so happy to tear the heart out of the gay rights movement. Lowell would vote to filibuster Samuel Alito, and he would have a message for positive change even if the Democratic leadership failed to put a platform together.

I am convinced that Lowell is our man in 2006, and all we need is about $25 million from all of you, and a whole lot of signatures.  Remember that a vote for Lowell is a vote for progress, guts and heart.  He represents the kind of leadership we should have in Washington and in the United States of America.  I reiterate my call of Lowell for Senate in 2006!

Valley you're probab (Steve Nelson - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
Valley you're probably right about the money. If an insider like Miller is hoping to run on the coattails of Warner he might be in for a surprise when Warner says "1 for you 200 for me, 3 for you 180 for me"

I wonder how much could feasibly be raised purely through the Internet? Personally I'd love to see a blogger like Lowell run for Senate. Not an office like mayor. Jump right to the big leagues. A total outsider. Someone with nothing more than good ideas. It seems to me that is exactly what Thomas Jefferson intended when he invented this whole crazy idea of government.

Hell I don't even know what Lowell looks like!

How about this cynic (valley iconoclast - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
How about this cynical explanation for why Warner tapped Miller and discouraged Webb.

Warner doesn't want a real challenge to Allen.  Warner is gearing up for his presidential run, so he needs money badly.  Obviously Virginia is where he will begin that process, tapping Virginia Democrats to get his campaign rolling so he can tap national Dems.  The last thing he needs is a candidate for Senate who is out tapping the same people for money.  Miller is wealthy enough to not need that fundraising.  Also, if the Senate race is close more money will pour in, further draining the pool that Warner wants to use.

While defeating Allen is important to Warner, raising money for his own presidential bid is more important.

Just a thought.

$25.1M! WHATEVER! (Steve Nelson - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
$25.1M!  WHATEVER!

Senators make $158,100 a year. Suck it up, you're getting a raise!

Josh and Steve: Kee (Lowell - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
Josh and Steve:  Keep in mind that I'd have to quit my job too.  So make that $25.1 million.  Ha ha.

Impeachharrismiller:  I hear ya, but how do you impeach someone who hasn't even been elected to anything?  :)

why us democrats wou (impeachharrismiller - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
why us democrats would put up someone like harris miller is beyond me. i'm seriously thinking about voting for george allen, just to show the democratic party how mad i am.

seriously, i really, really dont like harris miller, and i think its far past time we got past a "pro" someone else movement (like the draft james webb movement), and start figuring out how to take down miller.

He'd have my vote in (Steve Nelson - 4/4/2006 11:31:52 PM)
He'd have my vote in a heartbeat.

How tongue in cheek is this post? How many clams are necessary for the primary?

I think Warner would (DanG - 4/4/2006 11:31:53 PM)
I think Warner would WANT to run against Allen.  He knows he'd kick his ass.  If Webb took down Allen in 2006, McCain would have an easier time stepping up to the plate.

Run Lowell, Run!  Then I can actually be glad I'm voting for the Democrat!

The Webb decision is (valley iconoclast - 4/4/2006 11:31:53 PM)
The Webb decision is a real disappointment.  Allen was beatable and Webb has the vision for where the party should go and how it can regain the majority.  Too bad, not only will Allen be my Senator, there is an every increasing chance he will be my President as well.

Lowell if you decide (Steve Nelson - 4/4/2006 11:31:53 PM)
Lowell if you decide to run, you can put me down for $500-1000. It'll depend on how quickly my clients pay their bills.

Haven't spent much t (KathyinBlacksburg - 4/4/2006 11:31:53 PM)
Haven't spent much time on this blog lately (was away celebrating a family birthday). And in my skimming to catch up, somehow I missed this.  I was stunned to read about Webb on a national blog aggregator.  God help us.  I must say thank you to Lowell who tried to lead the way on this.  You were way ahead of us.  And I was --well--pretty slow to get out of the gate.  I thought it a lot over my absence.  And was prepared to volunteer.

Even over at http://www.GOTV.blogspot.com (not exactly pro-Webb) there was the sound of disappointment. We are doomed...unless someone (who's got some spine) opposes Miller and runs a real race.
