Ron Paul in Obama's cabinet

I admit that when Congressman Paul speaks, I agree strongly with about half of what he says.  The other 50% not so much.  It is for that last 50% that I didn't vote for him in the primaries.

Still, Congressman Paul has some very good points to make.  He speaks with logic, strength and intelligence, and he has resonated with a large chunk of independent and libertarian minded citizens.  When it comes to supporters (on this website) of personal liberties and social libertarianism, Ron Paul speaks our language.

Thus I will ask this:

Senator Obama, please consider asking Paul for a place in your administration or cabinet.

If you wish to govern the whole USA, choosing Congressman Paul as an advisor would do a lot to convince people that you will be everyone's president and that you will take diverse positions into consideration.

Abraham Lincoln welcomed his biggest rivals into his cabinet.  We are a big tent party.  If Obama does the same, it will help guide this country away from the Rovian "Us vs. Them" mindset that has sickened me for so long.

Ron Paul is the best on the board. Less of a policy mistake. However, the problem with libertarianism is that markets cannot solve moral issues and you cannot gut American foreign policy to satisfy some notion of originalism related to the Constitution. Isolationism never worked.

He is better than most though. Which cabinet position did you have in mind?

I don't know (thegools - 9/13/2008 9:33:25 PM)
but I think it would stir the pot a bit if it were announced before the election, and would certainly help pull over some of his voters to Obama.

I really like where he stands on civil liberties & American Empire.  His interpretation of the constitution (as I can recall) is good except when he comes to some of our bedrock social programs-then he loses me.
