Bush ♥ Terrorists

For those of you haven't been following the news from Palestine, the Islamic fundamentalist group Hamas won a smashing victory this week in legislative elections, bringing to power a radical Islamist group that the United States and Israel label a "terrorist" organization.  Among other things, Hamas is a group that has murdered hundreds of Israelis, largely through "suicide bombings" against civilian targets - people eating dinner in outdoor pedestrian malls, teenagers gathering for a night of dancing and music, etc..  Now, this group has come to power, and it's in no small thanks to Mr. "War on Terror" himself.  That's right, it turns out that Hamas' victory was partly made in the USA, specially in the Bush White House.

How so?  For starters, according to today's Washington Post, "Despite deep Israeli misgivings, the [Bush] administration late last year shifted policy and decided Hamas could participate in the elections even though it had not disarmed its militias, in contrast to rules set for elections in Afghanistan and Northern Ireland."  Even worse:

When Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon warned in September that he would try to block Hamas's participation unless it disbanded its militia and accepted Israel's right to exist, the administration forced the Israelis to back off. "Elections are fundamental to the continued evolution and development of the Palestinian process," Rice said.

That's right, the Bush Administration helped bring this terrorist group of murderous thugs to power.  Most Middle East analysts believe that this is a huge defeat for America and for Bush Administration Middle East policy (or lack thereof).  So what does George "You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie" Bush have to say about the Hamas victory?  Unbelievably, that it represented "the power of democracy," the chance of people "to express themselves at the polls," evidence of a " positive,""healthy" "competition of ideas."

Ideas?  Ideas?  With all due respect, Mr, Dumb Dubya President Sir, what the FUCK are you talking about?  Here are some of Hamas' "ideas," taken from its charter:

*On the destruction of Israel: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."

*On Jihad: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."

*More on jihad:  "The Arab states surrounding Israel are required to open their borders to the Jihad fighters, the sons of the Arab and Islamic peoples, to enable them to play their role and to join their efforts to those of their brothers among the Muslim Brothers in Palestine.  The other Arab and Islamic states are required, at the very least, to facilitate the movement of the Jihad fighters from and to them."

*On other Islamic extremist movements, like Al Qaeda: "The Hamas views the other Islamic movements with respect and appreciation."

*On the Jews as the root of all evil: The Jews "have been scheming for a long time," have "accumulated a huge and influential material wealth which...[permitted them to] take over control of the world media" and to " stir revolutions in various parts of the globe."  The Jews "stood behind World War II, where they collected immense benefits from trading with war materials and prepared for the establishment of their state."  The Jews also "inspired the establishment of the United Nations and the Security Council to replace the League of Nations, in order to rule the world by their intermediary."

*On Jews as Nazis: The Jews are a "vicious, Nazi-like enemy."

*Hamas' slogan?  "Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur?an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief."

*Hamas' attititude towards peace?  "...so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement."

*Hamas' feelings towards Christians? "And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed."

So there you have it.  Hamas is a murderous, fanatical, virulently anti-Semitic, anti-Western, anti-Christian, terrorist organization that seeks to establish a worldwide "jihad" movement, allying with other Islamic terror organizations.  And President Bush not only played a significant role in bringing them to power in Palestine the other day, but also praised the Hamas victory as "postive" and "healthy."  So much for the "Global War on Terror."  Instead, it looks like Bush ♥ Terrorists. Or, at least, he's perfectly willing to appease them.  Perhaps our draft-dodging, "bring it on," "Mission Accomplished" President should henceforth be called George "Neville Chamberlain" Bush?  Yeah, that works for me.
