Can we stick a fork in the Warner-Gilmore Senate race yet?  How about this?

...Warner, also a former governor, picked up endorsements Monday from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Fraternal Order of Police, two groups that traditionally support GOP candidates.

As if that's not bad enough for the guy who drove Virginia into a fiscal ditch and almost destroyed the commonwealth's AAA bond rating, there's this as well: "Warner also had more than $5 million in the bank as of June 30, compared with Gilmore's $116,000."

In tennis, I believe this is known as "game, set, match." It's been nice knowing you - well, actually, it hasn't - Jim Gilmore.  Enjoy the rest of your career outside of politics! :)

And Jim, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Just go away.

Gilmore has an impressive list of endorsements (Johnny Longtorso - 9/9/2008 8:30:47 AM)

I have nothing against Gilmore. (Tiderion - 9/9/2008 9:53:15 AM)
I am sure he is a nice guy but he should really stay away from government. To put into perspective how young I am, I remember in eighth grade explaining to my social studies class in a debate why Don Beyer was the safe pick over Gilmore in that famous car tax election. Great gimmick, bad policy.

Funny thing though, you have to thank Gilmore for trashing the State of Virginia so thoroughly as to allow Mark Warner, a Democrat, electable and then famous when he cleaned up the mess. If it wasn't for Gilmore, Warner might not be as popular. Though he was a great governor in his own right, to be sure.

I am sure the VA GOP hate giving Gilmore money.. (bladerunner - 9/9/2008 10:19:15 AM)
...Because it will surely be for a lost cause. Talking about money out the window.

I understand they refused (Tiderion - 9/9/2008 11:46:42 AM)
along with the National GOP to give Gilmore anything further because it was a waste.

Bah.

Republican front group, just trying to remain relevant in this race. Governor Warner should just ignore this announcement.

We'll see if the other major GOP funding front group (the NRA) decides to endorse as well.
