Final Time Out - Coach Don Haskins Remembered

A slight break from politics, below is the WaPo's extended obituary for college icon coach Don Haskins who led his 1966 all-black Western Texas basketball team to the NCAA national championship over all-white Kentucky.

A quote I saw in another report said that Haskins "just played his five best players" - to me, a very simple idea that is still frequently not invoked today.  If only Yale in the mid-1960's had the guts to admit only qualified students, perhaps our President would have found a different career.

Until the likes of Don Haskins becomes the norm, affirmative action must remain part of our national policy.
