Bob Goodlatte Breaks His Promise . . . Again

When Bob Goodlatte first ran for Congress in 1992, he promised that he'd step down after 12 years. That was the understanding of the voters when they elected him. He promised. They accepted his promise. Isn't that a contract?

In 2004, Goodlatte reneged on that promise. He did it again in 2006. And now it is 2008 and Bob Goodlatte is breaking his promise again. Goodlatte claims he wants reform, and yet he refuses to apply reform to himself. He has accomplished nothing in Congress except to be a rubber stamp for the Bush administration (Bob voted with the administration 95% of the time), and has done little for the 6th District.

It is time to help Bob keep his promise. We can enforce his term limit promise for him by electing his opponent, Democrat Sam Rasoul. DON'T LET GOODLATTE BREAK HIS PROMISE AGAIN!

Bob Goodlatte Breaks His Promise (Rick O'Dell - 9/3/2008 9:28:45 PM)
As I recall, Goodlatte's '92 campaign was driven by his support of "term limits."  That he has abandoned his own principles, and broken his promise of a self-imposed term limit, is a scathing testament to his lack of integrity.  If for nothing else, this is grounds for voting him out of office.

Yet, the most compelling reason for removing him is his ineffectiveness. In the years of a Republican majority he was an errand boy for the worst elements of his party. Now, he sits on the sidelines of a Democratic Congress where he is an insignificant relic of the now dead Gingrich/DeLay political machine.

In 16 years, Goodlatte has achieved nothing of merit. The citizens of the Sixth District need and deserve effective representation in Congress.  Goodlatte's time has passed. His seniority, gleaned by breaking his promise of a self-imposed term limit, has no value in a Congress with a growing Democratic majority.  It's time for a change.
